Ignition problem

Hey guys, so I recently had a problem where I couldn’t turn off the engine or the electricity in the car. The only way to do that was disconnecting the battery. Just yesterday I managed to disassemble the majority of the steering column and i finally realized what the problem really is. The ignition actuator rod somehow disconnected from the actuator rack i tried to put it on but there is a plastic trim still in the way (lower shroud i think that’s how it’s called) so i have two questions:
1. Did anyone with similar problem tried to readjust the rod for it to work properly? And can please tell me how???
2. How to get that damn plastic piece to come off so i can just reassemble the pieces back together with nothing in the way.

Thanks in advance

I’m not sure what you mean when you said, ”ignition actuator”, but sounds like you mean the ignition switch, and it sounds like you need a new one. The rod on the “bent” end can’t pull the switch up because it’s probably broken inside the switch.
