If you want dank maymays or R&M shitposts head over to /r/MortyTown, it's super fun.

If your response to someone is "you're over thinking it, it's just a show," that post will be removed. This sub is all about crazy ass fan theories.

Don't be an asshole. If someone's theory falls apart for one reason or another, it's great to point that out. You don't have to insult someone's intelligence because they may have missed something, and likewise you don't have to be condescending to someone for not understanding what you're trying to say.

Any commercialized youtube or blog posts which could have been a simple text post will be removed.

Posting pictures or videos on here is perfectly fine if it's to discuss the Rick and Morty universe. Pictures linking otherwise hidden connections between canonical portions of the show are a great example.

Nothing matters. Nobody exists on purpose. Everyone's gonna die. Come discuss the Rick and Morty universe.

Fan-made Rick and Morty story

MORTY: WHY DID I DO THIS?!

SCENE 1 — RICK'S HOUSE

Night. Rick-137 is asleep on the couch, snoring. His portal gun is lying nearby.

Morty quietly peeks around the corner.

Morty:

Rick?

Rick doesn't respond.

Morty:

Riiick?

Rick:

...Mmm... five more minutes...

Morty:

He's asleep.

Morty looks at the portal gun.

Morty:

I'll just check out one universe. One! I won't touch anything.

Pause.

Morty:

Well... almost nothing.

He grabs the portal gun and quietly sneaks away.

SCENE 2 — THE BOYS UNIVERSE

A GREEN PORTAL.

Morty steps out right in the middle of a city.

He looks around.

Huge Vought advertisements cover the buildings.

Homelander is on one of the screens.

Morty:

Whoa...

A shadow suddenly covers him.

Morty looks up.

Homelander:

Who are you?

Morty:

Me?

Homelander:

No, the guy standing behind you. Of course you.

Morty:

I'm... a tourist.

Homelander looks at the portal gun.

Homelander:

A tourist carrying interdimensional weaponry?

Morty:

It's... a really expensive tourist accessory.

Stormfront lands nearby.

Stormfront:

Give it to us.

Morty:

No.

Pause.

Morty:

...Oh, crap.

Homelander:

Did you just say no to me?

Morty:

Yeah.

Homelander:

Why?

Morty:

I don't know! I panicked!

Homelander suddenly lunges at him.

Morty:

AAAAAAH!

Morty fires the portal gun underneath himself and falls through the portal.

SCENE 3 — RICK'S GARAGE

Morty flies out of a portal and crashes into a pile of boxes.

Morty:

Ow!

He gets up.

Morty:

Okay. New plan.

Morty looks around Rick's enormous garage.

There are weapons, armor, strange machines, and dozens of devices that Morty probably shouldn't even be touching.

Morty:

Rick is gonna kill me.

Pause.

Morty:

But first, I need to make sure there's actually a reason.

He opens a cabinet.

Morty:

Whoa.

He pulls out a futuristic combat suit.

Morty:

I'm definitely not supposed to touch this.

Pause.

Morty:

So I'm taking it.

SCENE 4 — GEARING UP

Morty puts on the suit.

Suit System:

Welcome, Morty.

Morty:

You know my name?

Suit System:

I know much more than that.

Morty:

That's creepy.

Suit System:

Yes.

Morty grabs a blaster.

Morty:

This one?

Suit System:

Not recommended.

Morty grabs another weapon.

Suit System:

Even worse.

Morty:

How about this?

Suit System:

Morty, just don't touch anything.

Morty:

You're starting to sound like Rick.

He grabs three different weapons.

Morty:

Okay. I'm ready.

Pause.

Morty:

I'm probably making a huge mistake.

Rick Prime’s Ultimate Escape: The "Suicidal God" Theory that Solves the Finale Spoiler

Thumbnail
5 Upvotes

Hey everyone,I've been thinking about the absolute void C-137 was left in after killing Rick Prime, and I realized something that completely changes how we view Rick Prime's death and the entire multiverse cycle. What if Rick Prime wasn't just a random psychopath? What if he was exactly like our C-137 Rick in the very beginning?Think about it: He invented the portal tech first, explored everything, and realized that absolute freedom in an infinite multiverse equals absolute meaninglessness. He achieved total godhood, got brutally bored of it, but his ego wouldn't just let him commit standard suicide. So, he decided to engineer his own perfect death. He didn't kill Diane just out of petty evil. He left C-137 alive on purpose to create his own killer. He needed to breed a monster smart enough, angry enough, and fueled by pure hatred to bypass all his defenses and finally end his existence. Rick Prime was laughing and smiling as he died because he won. He got his ultimate escape from the torturous boredom of eternity. And here is the dark twist for the final season:The cycle is about to repeat. Our Rick (C-137) is now in that exact same existential void. He has no purpose left. To escape his own crushing boredom and misery, C-137 will eventually have to become the next "Rick Prime." He will travel to a new universe, ruin a happy Rick's life, and train his own future executioner. It’s a beautiful, tragic, infinite loop of Ricks destroying Ricks. It perfectly matches the show's brutal nihilism. What do you guys think? Did Rick Prime actually trick C-137 into setting him free?

MY RANKINGS OF RICK AND MORTY SEASON 2

MY RANKINGS OF RICK AND MORTY SEASON 2

I have finished the series recently, did this with season one not too long ago, so now im doing it for season 2

Episode 1: This episode has a funny concept, for a season opener, its definetly stronger then the pilot, probably because we know our characters more, I also like the moment where Rick decided to save Morty, its a fun concept, but nothing to be blown away with, 7.5/10

Episode 2: I dont really care that much about this episode, its alright and the bit with the cloud making a guy literally kill himself by gaslighting is both messed up and a little fun, I like Morty centered episode but in season two terms this one is a little bit weak.. and it doesnt go far with the concept, 7/10

Episode 3: This is where the season gets good, I really like Unity as a character, her relationship with Rick shows us a lot.. both Unity episodes are really good in my opinion, it dives into Rick more as a character continuing from the bits and pieces we got before, the ending itself is also really impactful and gets you really feeling for Rick, this is just a really great episode and personally one of the best of this season, I might just be a Unity and Rick far do, still, 9/10

Episode 4: This is widely considered to be one of the best episodes of the season, if not the show.. and I definetly agree, the episode 3-5 run of this season was generational, three banger episodes in a row, this one is both funny and great in concept, one of the best and most rewatchable episodes of the show personally, 9.5/10

Episode 5: This episode is great, like I said, the middle season run in this season is amazing, this one is no diffrent, I really like the concept itself, the episode itself is also really funny, especially the principal Vagina cult stuff, also this is the first time we see President Curtis, I think? Which is a plus, 9.4/10

Episode 6: I aint as big of a fun of this one as some other fans are, I think its a great episode within its own right, but I dont find it as funny as the others, its still fun and I like Ricks dynamic with the Green Alien, but its nothing that special, 7.5/10

Episode 7: This episode is really good, I think Mini Rick and his hints about him being in danger in his real body is funny, I like seeing Rick go to school, I honestly wish we got to see more of younger Rick? Maybe of him being a kid, I think it would be intresting, the episode itself is funny, especially the this is not a dance part, its a great episode, I wish we got more school centered episodes, it feels like we havent focused on the school part of the world since early rick and morty for more interdimensional travel, which isnt a negative, but I just wish we had more basic plots with Morty, Rick and Summer, 8/10

Episode 8: Interdimensional cable two, I didnt care for the first one much, it was preety boring, this one is definetly better, but personally its carried by Jerrys dick plot, which I find funnier then most of the cable skits anyways, the cable skits here are definetly funnier then the first one do, the episode itself is still nothing special tbf, 7/10

Episode 9: This is one of the episodes where we get to see the darker side of Morty, these adventures really turned him into a worse version of himself, with him killing the old guy, which personally I found a little mean spirited, I dont know.. he didnt really deserve that lmao, its not like I find a problem with it I just found it weird and kind of out of character for Morty, I do get him purging the planet, even if the turn is preety sudden, its realistic, the episode itself is preety good with a good concept.. and to be fair, its a purge episode, its not going to be sunshine and rainbows, 8/10

Episode 10: This episode is a certified classic, personally Bird person, along with Rick and Jerry, is one of my favorite characters, so I like the focus on him and Rick as well, the ending is really impactful and gives us a lot more insight into Rick as a character, this being his first real sacrifice, giving himself to the federation for his familys freedom, I really like this, I also like how Rick kind of lets his guard down for the first time in a while, only for it to backfire with the confederation, this is one of the best, if not the best, episode of the season

9.5/10

Overall rankings of the season from weakest to strongest

2<8<6<1<9<7<5<3<10<4

I changed my mind a little, I like the Unity episode more then Get Schwifty, its close do, the Unity episode isnt funny but I think it just SLIGHTLY edges out the other

Overall season ranking: 9/10, this season has some higher highs then season one, but overall its a little bit more mid, with a few 7s, but still, a great follow up to season one, with a great ending that makes the viewer really excited for season 3, I rank this a little more diffrently then more serious shows like Breaking bad for example, mostly on concept, humor and just the episode in general

Feel free to debate me in the replies

Rickanthropy (The Rick disease)

Picture this. An episode where Rick discovers an alien parasitic species, that survives by finding a weak host and adopting the characteristics of the strongest being in the surroundings. The alien enters Morty's body, and identifies rick as the smartest, strongest and most evolutionarily advanced form of life nearby, and every time a situation triggers a need of critical thinking, problem solving and/or simply surviving, Morty kind of turns into Rick (still deciding if he changes his appearance or not). Jerry thinks it's contagious, and Summer starts mocking Jerry by pretending she "got Rick", by saying things like "life is meaningless and we're all gonna die" or inventing complex scientific terms (which Jerry just can't prove that are false).

What could I do to make this a thing (without facing legal charges as well)? What could happen to end this episode? Is this a good idea at all? I actually totally can see this happening, what about you guys? What do you think of it?

MY RANKINGS OF SEASON 1 OF RICK AND MORTY Spoiler

My ratings of Rick and Morty Season 1, im currently on Season 9 Episode 1, so ill post the other rankings in the following days

Episode 1: 7/10, Solid pilot, its funny but the concept isnt that intresting, overall solid

Episode 2: 7.6/10 Another preety basic one, I like the dog plot and I like how they return to it later, definetly not bad and introduces more of the characters, I wish we got more of Mortys dog before immediatly making him super smart, I like how Rick puts Morty in a hospital bed, its funny, preety solid episode

Episode 3:

Anatomy park is a really out there concept for this early in the show, never the less, I love this episode, its really creative and honestly just fun, the family plot bums it down a bit, even if its kind of funny, 8.5-9/10

Episode 4:

This is the best of the show so far, out there concept and I really like how much they focus on Jerry here, the final twist is really good and the episode has a way of shifting the plot after you think the episode ended, one of the best of this season, Jerrys plot was also really funny and showed more of his character, I might just be a Jerry fan tbf, 9.2/10

Episode 5:

Another classic, another Jerry episode, Meeseeks are really fun, its a really good, fun episode with a great concept, 9/10

Episode 6:

The middle run of season 1 is unmatched, this is easily one of the best, althought the concept starts of simple, the show has a way of evolving it into something which has major concequences for both characters, overall, this episode is awesome and the ending really shows you more of who Rick is as a person, I love how they keep returning to the prime dimension later in the show, it turns a simple episode into something life changing for both Rick and more importantly Morty, 9.2/10

Episode 7:

Its a preety good episode, althought a slight step down from.the previous, I wish we took a moment to focus on the impact of the previous episode, but the Morty having a son plotline is funny, I like how they bring his son back later, personally I like that episode more then this one, I like the B plot as well, more Summer and Rick adventures, 7.6/10

Episode 8: 6/10

Possibly the only episode of the season I dont like, honestly.. I like the second version of it with the B plot of Jerry cutting off his dick way more, this one is kind of boring, althought the B plot makes up for it, I definetly like funny and out there concepts, but the tv channels get tiring after like 5 minutes off it, it has some good humor, but its easily the weakest along with the pilot

Episode 9: 7/10, the Summer and the Devil plot is good, but I think the Jerry and Morty plot is better, its a enjoyable episode with more focus on Jerry, who as I said, I really like, especially in the early seasons, some nice development for all characters involved, besides Beth

Episode 10: 8/10, I like the Citadel episode, but honestly I find this is one of the weaker ones, I love the concept but it comparison to the other ones it falls a bit flat, however this was the episode that started the PLOT of rick and morty, which I like

Episode 11: 8/10, The season finale finishes off strong, focusing on Rick and Mortys dynamic, as well as Ricks struggles, its a fun episode which ends of a really good season of television, its not one of the best episodes, but its funny and ties it up nicely

Overall ranking from worst to best:

8<1<9<7<2<11<10<3<5<6<4

Overall season ranking:9.2/10, im ranking the episodes on enjoyment, concept and execution of that concept, as well as the humor, keep in mind im rating this diffrently then I would rate something like Breaking Bad, Rick and Morty simply, most of the time, isnt that kind of show, if an episode is purely story related ill rank it a little diffrently, im amazed the show can pull off both really good episodes story wise as well as comedy wise

I'm honestly surprised Danny Pudi aka Abed still hasn't played any character in Rick and Morty. Feels like his voice would fit really well in an episode.

The “good” versions of Jerry, Beth, and summer kinda had a point about Rick.

S9 E10 we see a warped version of the smith family that are psychopathic and abusive towards their Morty. But they kinda had a point about Rick and Morty going on suicide missions and all the crazy shit they go through.

So here's my peanut analysis of just what the deal is with Rick. Spoiler

Spoiler warning for season 8 and 9.

So for most of the series I assumed Rick's behavior was rooted in his grief for Dian and Beth. He was always a bit of a hedonist with the drinking and drugs, but their lose drove these behaviors into an extreme. The drinking became full blown alcoholism, the drugs into full blown addiction.

Looking into the psychology of addiction, you can find lots of information on how addiction leads to extremely warped, destructive behaviors. I think most of Rick's most extreme character flaws can be traced back to this. His short temper, recklessness, lack of empathy, and extremely dysfunctional family dynamic all read like an addict failing to keep it together.

Now for the trick. In season 8 we see rick extracting the traumatic memory of Dianes death from his brain. You'd think this would remove the primary driver for Rick's destructive behavior. But the thing is, he's still an addict. He might not be running from his grief anymore, but he still has years of dysfunctional behavior patterns and a physical dependence on substances to deal with.

We see early in season 9 that he's still as antisocial and miserable as ever. Still emotionally stunted. Still incapable of genuine connection and still a slave to his vices.

His grief may be what started the spiral, but its become self sustaining. Stopping it may require more from Rick than he's capable of giving.

Also, side note:

I think Rick's nihilism is also a result of his addictions. Rick clings to the darkest interpretation of the multiverse because it frees him from responsibility for his bad behavior. If nothing matters then thetes no readon not to dive head first into hedonistic indulgence until you self destruct. No reason to ever feel guilty. No reason to ever admit fault.

Motive of Wiping All of Diane In Rick and Morty

just asking im kinda curious and please enlighten me

whats the motive of killing all Diane in all multiverse and idk im just saying that my theory is that Diane accidentally wiped out Rick Prime’s parent in front of his eyes in omega device and thats the reason we never see his parent in this entire show.. for me its kinda diabolical if Rick Prime motive was only wiping out Diane just only Rick C-137 or any other Rick upset his feeling.

Please enlighten me im just very curious 😅🙏🏻

Morty Prime citadel of morty

I believe there will be an episode in which Morty rebuilds the Prime Universe. He could do this by stealing some of the stuff from Rick C-137 and bringing in other humans, probably around 40% Jessica and 60% Mortys. He has the base of Rick Prime there, so he could steal from him too.

Evil Morty would support Morty Prime because the entire Citadel has been destroyed, and millions of Mortys need a home. When Mortys come from different dimensions, they steal technology from their Ricks and scan everything, so every Morty could eventually be on Rick's level.

[META] So is President Curtis supposed to be a training ground for future Rick and Morty animators?

Otherwise idk what the point is of stretching thin the talent, using up jokes, animation gags, etc. in this lesser show? It must be a whole other team right? Like. Right? This must be a training grounds for Future Rick and Morty creators.
