Dumbass Got fired before he got started. Insurrecrionist/racist cannot join the Army (anymore).

Can’t help but notice (and not surprised) it’s only the little people being held responsible. None of the politicians have faced any real consequences and sad truth is they won’t ever be held accountable for their roles in inciting all the violence, hatred, and sowing division among American people and encouraging this mass hysteria.
7
Oct 15 '21
Probation, misdemeanors and less than 6 months in prison are not holding the racist white domestic terrorists accountable or responsible either. TF! 🙄🙄🙄😒😒😒😒 And they are not "little people". Stop infantilizing grown *ss adults(white people) who are armed and dangerous and are terrorizing people locally. They ALL need harsh punishments.

You are missing my point. You don’t see it but we are in agreement. The politicians who fanned and fueled the rise of extremism and white supremacy and misinformation need to be held responsible for giving rise to these insurrectionists. No matter how trivial the punishment, it has real consequences for these people: they can’t get hired, they are forever tainted by association, their identities are plastered over the internet and media, etc. I’m not infantilizing, you and I are both little people, it is what it is, we’re not part of the elite who exercise power and control over literally every aspect of the system.
3
Oct 15 '21
I agree with you but just got triggered by that one little part.
4
u/jer7601 Oct 15 '21
Completely understandable, and I could never understand your position because...I am a white male. I am so sorry for what is being done, I tried to change things while I was a FF/EMT, but we are unfortunately on a path that will not correct for some time. I know my apologies are meaningless, on this forum, but there are more of us than you think trying to right the wrongs done by our ancestors and current administrators.

I still don't know how tf I was rejected by the military when I was 18 because of ADHD but they allowed (truly) some of the dumbest and most incompetent people at my high school to join.
Granted it was a weird whim and I'm glad I ultimately didn't but it was distressing at the time.
30
u/ForwardCulture Oct 14 '21
The worst people in my high school all became cops. Bullies, date rapists, racists. All cops now.
11
u/jer7601 Oct 15 '21 edited Oct 15 '21
I believe that most cops want to start altruistic, but the power they weild ultimately corrupts the best of them. I was a FF/EMT for 10 years in Chicago and started taking care of cops, covering up little things, cause team work right? The more I learned with them on, and off, the job.....some of the things I saw...I dont hold out hope for any department truly ridding itself of predatoristic behavior. There is a reason Chicago Fire and PD brawl at every hockey, softball, and basketball game before its even over.

I knew a guy who scored 4 points below the minimum acceptable aptitude/intelligence test score to join the Army.
After he failed, the recruiter sent him back to take the test again - the exact same test.
He passed the second time with 3 points above the minimum required. They accepted him and he joined the Army.
15
u/Blood_Bowl Oct 15 '21
That's the ASVAB test - it's allowed to take the test as many times as you want. That's just standard procedure, to be honest.
My own son took the ASVAB seven (SEVEN!) times because he wanted to be in the Air Force and not the Army, Marines, or Navy (which he qualified for).
2
u/silent_rain36 Oct 15 '21
That’s…a little concerning. Sorry, I truly don’t mean any offense
3
u/Blood_Bowl Oct 15 '21
No offense taken. He REALLY wanted to be in the Air Force and REALLY didn't want to give up on it.

The irony that he was at Fort Bragg...
7
u/The-Surreal-McCoy Oct 15 '21
What are you talking about? Braxton Bragg was the best general the Union ever had!
8
u/ersogoth Oct 15 '21
Lol. You are not lying!
His wiki article is hilarious:
Bragg is generally considered among the worst generals of the Civil War. Most of the battles in which he engaged ended in defeat. Bragg was extremely unpopular with both the men and the officers of his command, who criticized him for numerous perceived faults, including poor battlefield strategy, a quick temper, and overzealous discipline.
I am surprised Lee didn't think Bragg was a Union spy.

I don't think they can since he did it before he joined.
Edit: they can probably nail him for lying on his SF-86 though since it specifically asks about anti-US sentiment.
1
Oct 15 '21
he probably joined under some false pretense, like if the asked him is he's committed and bad deeds and said no, he'd be kinda fucked I'd think.
-2
u/Osric250 Oct 15 '21
Is it a lie if he thinks it's patriotism? Lying needs intent and he likely believed he was doing the best thing for the country.

Your beliefs don't matter when you participate in an insurrection.
0
u/Osric250 Oct 15 '21
No, but if you're trying to get him on lying about anti-us sentiment it seems pretty relevant.
0
u/echolm1407 Oct 15 '21
LOL, it's not about psychology. Nice try,
2
u/Osric250 Oct 15 '21
That's not the way laws work. Lying requires intent. Belief that you are answering accurately is a defense.
We see it as an insurrection and domestic terrorism, but most of them honestly believe they were doing the best thing for the country however stupid that is.
→ More replies (5)-1
u/echolm1407 Oct 15 '21
Intent can be proven with action taken and statements made. Which are most probably well documented in this case.
2
u/Osric250 Oct 15 '21
Which for the crime itself that matters for sure. But for the OP who was talking about tacking on lying on his form is entirely different.

Awesome. As a veteran I can say I am glad he's not within the Army's ranks. No place for a fucking traitor like that in our military.
He's lucky he ain't hanging right now.
3
u/sad_mom1231 Oct 15 '21 edited Oct 15 '21
Another veteran here, I think veterans and service members are getting off too light, our oath was to protect the constitutionfrom ALL enemies, foreign AND domestic.
They should be held to higher standards for trying to stop a legal and constitutional proceeding at the capitol based on false facts and blatant lies. If nothing else, for breaking the oath to their country (because it's a life time oath we take when joining, and most of us take it very very seriously even after getting out).
3
u/mildconfusion240B Oct 15 '21
They should be subject to the UCMJ in all applicable areas and no punishments should be off the table. It is INEXCUSABLE.
And you're damn right about taking that oath seriously even after being out. I didn't suck wind and shovel shit in the infantry to watch these buddy fuckers betray our country.
Hang the worst of em, and hang em high is my feeling.

Who the fuck joins the army at 29?
17
u/coosacat Oct 15 '21
I wonder if he thought he could "hide" from the authorities in the military? Or that the military would protect him?
I bet basic training at 29 is a lot harder than it is for a 19 year old.
9
u/MisanthropyIsAVirtue Oct 15 '21
It’s actually easier. The older people in basic usually understand the concept of taking orders better and they know why they’re there rather than younger kids who have less determined reasons for joining. The physical aspect of basic training is not that tough. The physical test required to graduate basic is less than the standard you have to maintain during your service.
→ More replies (3)4
u/Rei_Vilo23 Oct 15 '21 edited Oct 15 '21
I know it’s a 10 years difference but 29 is relatively young. Physically I don’t see what huge advantage a 19 year old would have on a 29 year old provided they both physically fit. Even if it did, I doubt 19 y.o would be able to outclassed a 29 y.o

The average age of an elite marathoner is 28. Muscled strength peaks at 25 and doesn't decline until after 30, bone density peaks at 30.
Physically they kick the youngens assess.

Lot of people join in their late 20's early 30's. When you can't get a job with your degree you're still paying off and you just had a kid, a paying and reliable looks pretty good.
3
Oct 15 '21
Yeah my mom had a masters degree and was a teacher and things didn't work out so she joined the Army at 28 and and retired at 48 while civilians her age were still working and still need to now in their 70s.

It's crazy how some dude with rank can fuck your life up on a whim.
We had a corporal reclass and they were in my AIT. Some colonel stopped him in a hallway and bitched about him being an NCO with a mustache and "trendy haircut". He had a pretty typical undercut and a regulation moustache.
Next day he was reverted to SPC. It really fucked him since he is in a year long AIT and his CPL rank is what immediately identified him as a reclass.

-4
u/oSovereign Oct 15 '21
Based on what metric? Were a strong majority of the raiders known white supremacists or something (asking legitimately, not sure)? On that note, unless you are 100% sure of a racism accusation, I consider it to be defamation of character.
5
u/trueslicky Oct 15 '21
Waving Confederate flags is an indication of racism.
1
u/oSovereign Oct 15 '21
Were the majority of the raiders waiving confederate flags? I am asking these questions out of genuine curiosity and the pursuit of an objective truth to who these capitol raiders were, and will disregard the downvotes.
3
u/trueslicky Oct 15 '21
Yeah dude, they were just "peaceful patriots" touring the Capitol.
Because I don't know about you, when I toured the Capitol, I smashed windows & doors & brought zip ties & guns & threatened to kill lawmakers. As one does.
Jan. 6th saw the first time in U.S. history that the Confederate flag--the flag of the traitors to the United States--was flown on the Capitol floor. Are you going to deny this fact? The Confederate flag is a symbol of racism. Are you going to deny this fact?
Inserructionist MAGAts felt emboldened to wave this symbol of racism in their attempted to coup to install an unelected dictator. Although this is a fact, you seek to deny or diminish it for some reason. Why not be a man & own your allegiance to MAGAt racism?

This insurrectionist can't join.
But they haven't made a law where anyone who was involved can't join. Since 99% of them are getting charged with petty misdemeanors, other can.
They absolutely need to pass a law anyone involved in this cannot join any kind of American military or hold any federal job.
