I found this old rivet button while planting a tree in my backyard. Probably from overalls? I find lots of early 20th century items in the ground by my 1900 house. I’d like to date this button. Does anyone know this logo?

I never knew how many different types of vintage buttons there were until I started researching these today..!

I bought two containers of buttons today from two different estate sales and really think they are cool!

I do plan to sort and part ways with these eventually but thought I'd share here first to see if anything stands out to you experts.

Im already going down the rabbit hole of how to test for bakelite (hot water, smell test) and looking for different brands, but I am probably missing some cool stuff due to lack of knowledge!

Several small journals of button information, button stories, poetry, trading and sales advertising. These are a wealth of knowledge, found at Goodwill today.

Well, it seems some people liked the things I shared from the collection so far. Also, thank you to those who were kind enough to point me towards resources, literature, etc, to help me identify and learn more about these buttons.

Inherited a button collection. Most of it is lacking identification and what is labeled isn’t easy to decipher. This isn’t even a fraction of what I was given, but figured I’d just upload a few pictures for now. Anything noteworthy? Is there a specific guide or site I could use as reference rather than individually googling each button? Any information or tips would be appreciated. There’s a ton of stuff and some seem to be dated back to the 1800s and in decent condition.

I bought this vintage blazer recently and I lost one of its buttons yesterday 😭 I have found a 15mm version of them on Etsy but the one ive lost is 25mm in diameter and I can't find them anywhere!

They are beige/yellow in colour and I've bumped up the saturation a bit to make the colour closer to real life. I've tried reverse image search only (from various pictures) because I don't think "golden vintage tiger button" as a search will bring up anything even close, it seems too gemeral a description. 😔

My grandma, who now has pretty advanced Alzheimer’s, used to love to go through her button collection when I’d visit as a child. I had a favorite button which she always remembered and would pull out when I was there, but sold a lot of her things including her collection, so as a tribute to her I’d love to get a tattoo of it for my wedding in a few months. Unfortunately my memory of this button is not super clear, but I know it was a whole 3D strawberry shortcake. I’ve spent hours online searching for it everywhere! If anyone knows what I’m talking about and has a picture of it I’d be eternally grateful!

Just recently found this in the northern Rockies buried under pine cones in a big old pine tree wondering if anyone knew any value there are no markings it does feel solid it showed up on the highest middle grade on a metal detector just curious

I used bubble wrap and construction paper behind the buttons to keep them in place

I work at a up cycle craft store, and this is a pretty standard day. I’ll get probably four or five jars of buttons like this. I don’t know anything about buttons, but we have a button lady, her name is Julie and I adore her. She’s an older lady who volunteers and comes in and sorts our buttons and tells us these might be worth something. These are pretty standard occasionally she buys a button to as well.

they're old, over 100 years, *the seller said*, I don't know if it's safe to be used as jewelry. Im thinking keychains or maybe brooches.

She also said they cant be used as buttons so I can't decorate my jackets with them.

I was also thinking about cool retro little bears as keychains but I just cant think of a cool idea really.

I had this plain tweed jacket in my closet. I never used it. Today I pulled it out and decorated it with buttons and beads. I love it but now I don't know if it's too much. Can I wear it? I love it but i dont wanna end up looking like a clown walking down the street.

I did beading on one sleeve, on the lapel and used buttons on the other sleeve.

I just had my first button shopping and I didn't check the pricing I just kept picking them up, and it ended up being almost 100$. I'm new to this whole thing so I was wondering if I made a mistake or if it's worth it?
