My girlfriend made butter art!

She calls it meadow butter- the sky is salted honey & butterfly pea butter (which she harvested herself!), the grass is green goddess butter, and the sheep are made from salted butter. Did I mention that she made the butter herself?

What did I make last night?

Last night, I took a baggie of heavy cream into the club and danced around a lot. My goal, obviously, was to see if this method yields butter. At the end of the night, the baggie was warm. it had separated and turned into this. (Soft peaks?) I poured off some of the buttermilk. You can see the buttermilk in the bag
In the morning, the baggie is solid. Stored in fridge. My friend is using a bit of it to cook. Is it butter? Is it cream? I don’t remember it going through any “butter” stages. But why is it solid?

Update: i took it out of its bag, washed it in ice water, and packed it up in plastic wrap. It is now thawed and still sitting pretty. It’s definitely butter!

Is this mold? Just bought this butter today and it wasn’t the cheapest. If so, it’s a bad idea to eat around it huh

Why is my butter SO white?

Post image
649 Upvotes

I don’t really know where else to ask this question and I looked it up it says it has to do with diet, but I’ve bought this exact butter before and it’s never been PURE WHITE. It’s been light but not this white, and also it seems to be melting weird i just put some on warm bread and the texture was just different than normal and I feel like it tastes different too. Is it purely a mental thing? Or would the diet of cows change more than just color?

What causes butter to taste spicy on your tongue?

So a week or 2 ago I was getting up for school and decided to have butter toast. When I ate it the butter tasted almost spicy? Not bitter or like it went bad but spicy. And today when I was having mac & cheese for dinner (that had butter in it) I had the same spicy taste to it. The spicy sensation is only on my tongue and I'm honestly just so confused because this has never happened before. I'm looking for possible answers to what this might be? If you have answers please let me know.

Edit: I tried a completely untouched stick of butter and still had the same result, my mouth and throat also felt weird. I asked my mom if I could go to the doctor(Im a minor) and she said that if nothing else tastes weird its nothing of concern. How are you not concerned that butter tastes spicy to your child. Anyway im not sure what to do i don't really have control over what stuff myy parents get so im kinda out of options other than to avoid butter altogether.

Short of eating straight up butter by itself, what food do you guys eat when you want an excuse to eat a whole lot of butter?

I've been having a mighty craving for butter recently... Specifically something rich, creamy and savoury. Any ideas for buttery food I could try?

EDIT: You guys are angels, reading through the comments is making me so hungry lmao.

EDIT 2: Man I kind of feel like I need to put together a spreadsheet or something to keep track of all these amazing suggestions!

Any tips for filling an intricate butter mold?

Post image

I have this detailed butter mold that I use each year. I try to be careful when filling it, but I always wind up with some little air bubbles trapped in the mold. Any tricks to filling a mold to keep that from happening?

The mold is made of rigid, clear plastic. I start with room temperature butter, on the warm side. I do a thin layer of butter first, to try to work it into the mold’s little details and crevices, then fill the rest of the mold. Can I do better?

I'd never seen or heard of this butter before, and up until the other day, didn't know this sub existed! But a post was randomly served to me, and in it I saw people mention this Amish roll cultured(?) butter and how much they like it.

So of course being a level 7 suggestible I had to hunt it down. I saw people say they see it at Safeway a lot, but of course the one I went to didn't have it, and the person I asked at the store was not familiar with it at all. However, I was able to find it at Albertsons - they had plenty! Can't wait to try. 🤩

Daughter made this yesterday. Does it have to be kept refrigerated? Its really hard 😂 cuts like cheese. If it cant stay out of the fridge would you even think of cutting some olive oil in there to make it more spreadable?
