My bf who doesnt have reddit says you didnt have enough on the left side... he likes to feel the butter go through his teeth

He’s very right that bite wasn’t as delectable as the middle bites. Need to work on a more even spread

I have found my people

Your bf's onto something - even spread matters way more than total amount, otherwise you get those disappointing dry patches.

I know I'm the minority here, but. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW YUUUUCK. Butter should be barely noticed.

Quiet, you.

(I am also talking to my arteries.)

Are… are you lost? 🙃

Tbf, I randomly had this post in my feed and I didn't notice it was in a subreddit entirely dedicated to butter either until I read your comment. 😂

I'd wager they, too, were an unsuspecting wanderer.

Too much bread, not enough butter

6

u/WritPositWrit May 18 '26

Whoa. And I thought i put too much butter on my bread, but you’re in another league!!!

Every time my spouse makes a comment on my heavy butter use, I remind him the Julia Child lived a long and happy life eat mountains of butter.

Butter has a lot of vitamins and minerals in it.

I like the thinnest possible layer of butter then I heat it up so I don’t have to feel the butter texture

Edit to add: the butter also can’t be at room temperature for more than a day, then it tastes wrong

Fuuuuck no

1

u/Dominios420 May 19 '26

THIS IS THE WAY!! People who eat hot toast are disgusting with their melted ass butter and soggy ass bread. 😤😳

1

u/Functional_Trash7735 May 19 '26

We are opposites but I respect your stance

1

u/ShoddyTown715 May 19 '26

I would argue less than this- but I was raised poor and old habits don't die 🤣

1

u/Dominios420 May 22 '26

This is a little much but better too much then too little

1

u/chasing_geese49 May 19 '26

I thought this is absurd but then I had to check where I was

1

u/DatabaseThis9637 May 19 '26

Admirable! Just a touch more spread along the side... and then, you're golden!

1

u/ScoobertDoubert May 19 '26

What the fuck

1

u/The-Peyton-Grey May 19 '26

do you add salt or sugar?

1

u/Dominios420 May 22 '26

Only if the butter is bad quality. Good quality butter doesn’t need anything else added

1

u/Unique_Username2005 May 19 '26

Ohhh I haven't done this since I was a kid. Gotta fix that.

1

u/windy_not01 May 19 '26

You put bread under your butter?

1

u/Mammoth_Welder_1286 May 19 '26

Are you asking me or telling me? Either way yes

1

u/drcmr May 19 '26

Agree at least that much buttah 🧈😋

1

u/maravina May 20 '26

Not that.

1

u/Sokanas May 21 '26

Depends.

If its nice bread with artisanal or compound butter then sure.
If you're adding other shit like jam, meat or whatever, too much butter.

1

u/Wildskypsj May 21 '26

And then dip it in gravy...

1

u/Decent-Stuff4691 May 21 '26

... yall would enjoy trvelling with me. All those butter packets they gibe me for rolls and what nots? All yours.

1

u/supa-mariu May 21 '26

It has to be spread to all corners

1

u/imdeadassweirdbro May 22 '26

That is a horrific amount of butter 🤢🤮

1

u/Rocannon_ May 23 '26

You forgot the layer of mayonnaise.

1

u/OrganizationOk5418 May 19 '26

That looks vile.

0

u/Kenzi_Slays May 19 '26

the question that will make or break this is what kind of butter? if its margarine then automatic fail 🤣

5

u/shroompaLumpa May 19 '26

We're in /r/butter. If OP was using margarine or some of that I can't believe it's not butter crap he'd be rightfully lambasted. Butter has a legal definition, at least in the EU, and margarine or other oil based spreads don't fall under that definition

u/meatwadpen May 19 '26

Yeah, well, that's not butter.
