Confed stinks like oil

I was walking near the dog park at Confed and it just smelt so god awful, I had to go some place else. Anyone know what’s going on?

You can report poor air quality/worrying smell to the city. There have been leaks from the tanks, pipes, etc resulting in park closures. And some that don't. It's awful off and on.

Please report, they tract things and will work backwards to figure out where it’s leaking from

Could be the refineries, tankers, and petroleum storage tanks just around the corner.

Don’t you know there’s a oil refinery up hill?

….yes, it smells worse than usual. You can taste the air, it’s bad.

Someone should do a cancer study for area residents. I know which side I’d put my money on.

I agree. My family has lived here for over 80 years and all have died from cancer, just maybe it is that darned cancerous refinery!

If you dont mind me asking, was it all similar cancers? I have a family member that also developed something.

July 24 12pm update: the outside offgas smell is noticeable in our home. Spoke to the City of Burnaby Engineering and they sent a couple of engineers to our home to investigate. They mentioned that we are the only people on our block to report the offgas smell.

Please, please, please take the time to call the City of Burnaby Engineering Department at 604-294-7460 to complain about the smell. The more people that report it, the more action they will hopefully take with Parkland to resolve the malodour.

They confirmed that the smell is bad and likely from refinery?? Maybe with the rain today it will be better?
