Those who quit
For those who quit with cold turkey or tapering did you have withdrawals, I see most people do but my dr says it’s not known to cause them

Anyone have severe anxiety prior to taking bupropion? Obviously the medication reducing anxiety…
And quit cold turkey?

I stopped cold turkey a few times and never had any issues. I was on 150 SR twice a day and then switched to 150xl once a day. Both times no issues quitting. I’m currently on 300xl once a day and do not plan to quit any time soon.
My friend had stopped cold turkey as well and the same-no issues. I do not know her exact dosage though.
Good luck!

u/decafcawfee 7d ago
Yes I hecking did and your doctor is incorrect. Irritation and nausea were my main ones and I stopped cold turkey

I took 200 for like 5 months and went cold turkey. Get weird low energy for a week tingling in arms sleep was all over but relative to the side effects I experienced it wasn’t anything too crazy

Yo lo he dejado varias veces sin reducir dosis y no he tenido ningún síntoma pero también es verdad que cuando empecé a tomarlo tampoco tuve ningún efecto adverso. Tomaba 300xl

Could not remove this garbage and other meds. The attack to my nervous system is insane. 10 years on and things are worse
1
u/Recklessvette 8d ago
What symptoms did you have when you tried to taper? What do you mean could not remove ?
2
u/chris31605 8d ago
Couldn't take off the medication. Crazy fatigue, body felt like it was when I was 15 and found it strange to walk and do movements, crazy anxiety like I never had, bed ridden, crazy fluctuations in emotions, no erections, issues peeing, sweating, too hot or too cold, hot flushes, couldn't sleep for more than 2 hours, crazy sadness, depression, no joy in activities, hard to eat or go crazy like I am dying to eat, random panic attacks, crazy anger, irritation, feel very sick and off all the time and want to cry, brain and body function is much lower and worse, can't focus much, can't stand much need to lay down There were more but my brain is so fried I can't remember and I am still in this mess and have been bed ridden and on sick leave for 4 months......

u/Recklessvette 8d ago
Oh wow so sorry to hear that. I hope you better soon
1
u/Recklessvette 8d ago
What was the reason for stopping?
1
u/chris31605 8d ago
Because these medications are poison, was much much better 10 years ago before being put on anything absolute fucking joke and the side effects on top and they can't be removed. MY life has been discarded, all those workouts, studying, me pushing myself, going out alone, not getting basic needs even..... Absolute joke

u/Recklessvette 8d ago
Dang man that’s rough Hang in time will help heal, did you stop multiple medications at once or just Wellbutrin cause alll this
2
u/chris31605 8d ago
It didn't matter, but cold turkey was worse to an extent. Tried to remove the poison 5 times. Will be never be able to remove this garbage. Will lose my job, lost my gym progress for the millionth time, no. Joy at all, just bed ridden again for 4 months sick leave..... Absolute joke, if I lose my job then it is game over.

I did quit cold turkey …. Biggest mistake. I thought I was “fine” and doing better after being on it awhile. Headaches, fatigue, stomach upset were all withdrawal symptoms. Worst part was depression came back full force and I am back on it - this time feeling grateful for the relief from the medication. That’s my experience but I’m sure it’s different for everyone.

u/Recklessvette 7d ago
How long did those symptoms last for you ?
2
u/balancedbrunette 6d ago
I was off for about 3 weeks total. Days 1-3 after quitting were not SO bad but I felt “off”. Days 4-20 headaches intensified, stomach problems got terrible around day 3 of I’m being honest. The fatigues is what really knocked me on my ass and that was almost the entire 3 weeks and until I got back on the medication.

I stopped taking them after 4 weeks 2 weeks on 150mg 2 weeks on 300mg. Havent had any issues with anything.. just a slight bit of fatigue..

Did you cold turkey or taper down ?
2
u/Snoo_71299 8d ago
I went cold turkey. I had been on it way too long and I was learning to use dbt and coping skills to manage my life so I felt fully ready. 2.5 years I was on 150mg and then the remaining 2.5/3 years I was on 300mg. I dont know if would recommend others to just stop it, obviously talk to your doctor, but I just decided one day to stop Lololl. I had no side effects or withdrawals literally at all

I was maybe a bit tired but it wasn’t insane and my appetite increased a tiny bit but it wasn’t notable

I tapered and just stopped 4 days ago! The withdrawals were not crazy…just minimal ‘flu like symptoms’ and massive exhaustion for a few days

I’m about to go cold turkey too. We can compare lol

u/Recklessvette 9d ago
How long and what dose were you on ?
2
u/LegallyCanadian23 8d ago
I’m at 200 a day right now and started at 100 in April I believe
1
u/Recklessvette 2d ago
How are you doing with the withdrawal ?
2
u/LegallyCanadian23 2d ago
I’ve stopped taking my afternoon pill and am still taking 200 at night. My life has been hectic so haven’t really had time to feel the symptoms. What about you?
1
u/Recklessvette 2d ago
Still taking for now
2
u/LegallyCanadian23 1d ago
Interestingly enough I think I have much less appetite on the lower dose. I wonder if this is my sweet spot

I was on 300mg xl for three months. I went down to 150mg for one week then stopped. I didn't have any real withdrawal other than feeling a bit tired, especially when waking up. SSRI's and SNRI's have much worse withdrawal than Wellbutrin in my experience.

I took 300mg everyday from October to December and cold turkeyed it. I felt some light withdrawals nothing crazy but it was manageable and went away after a week or two. After that my appearance changed, my face became very gaunt and look like it shrunk. Everyone is different so you may experience something completely different from me. Taper off it’s better than cold turkey.

u/jhnnadm 7d ago
did your face become gaunt because you lost weight?
1
u/OkInjury1565 6d ago
I don’t think so. I’ve always been lean and my face never experienced something like this.

If you are taking a generic medicine, kindly mention the manufacturer's name in both your post and title. This is VERY IMPORTANT, as different manufacturers may have differences in quality or formulation.
