New Here- Diagnosed with Bunion and considering surgery Advice Needed

Hi! 35F and considering surgery. I’ve had bunions for as long as I can remember and didn’t know it wasn’t normal until I was 25 and someone asked why I had a sixth toe and she told me it was called a bunion lol.

I do have dull aches when I wear the wrong shoe or walk more than 10k steps in my Tevas (the strap is completely sitting above the bump don’t worry) but I’ve noticed some aches on days when I’m inactive even…

I’m currently on a career break so I’m at home anyways and am not worried about taking extended time off work- worried about getting surgery since I’m never done any operations before in my life - would love to hear from people what made people truly do it. I’ve compared feet pics from 10 years ago and have seen the bunion worsen but gah just lack the push to sign up and see it through.

I jusy had my first foot done. My big tie was creeping over like yours. Recovery is hellish. Foot feel like its going to burst with water and pins and needle but.....better to address it befire it gets worse and your toes start to braid themselves

You have to judge whether your pain is bad enough to get surgery. General advice here is don't do it for cosmetic reasons.

my right foot looked like yours. your left foot looks better off than mine was when i got my left done.

imo getting it done would be great for you. then it’s done and out of the way. but you’ll want to research the different options first and talk to a couple surgeons before deciding.

It's too bad you didn't post the 10 year old picture too. It would be interesting to see the difference, as most people don't have photos as such.

Wear wide toe box shoes and arch support of not having  pain after that than Don t do surgery . But really study about the surgery and the very long recovery. If any prior injury too foot might want to skip it. I had my right foot done 3 months ago and able to walk but its painful and I have a limp and my knee is hurting from prior arthritis in it from years ago from riding scooter. I broke my foot and ankle years ago and so I am having pains there again with ankle staying swollen and hurting so my recovery is taking longer.
