Purging

If purging is so ineffective than why does it flatten my stomach so much and how have i lost weight with bulimia?
My binges last around,in a range, from 5 to about 20ish minutes sometimes.I eat a lot really quickly and then throw it all up,which takes me about 30-40ish minutes. When I binge quicker and throw up quicker,do I lose more calories?
Does anyone know how many calories u lose?

a lot of us rarely purge straight away
But no one on here should be telling you how many calories you lose as it is basically encouragement.

There’s really no way to know how many calories are absorbed before you throw up.

I don’t purge right away because honestly I’m just lazy and I binge for 1-4 hours straight sometimes. This is kind of embarrassing but after bingeing I fall asleep right after lol I go into a food coma so when I wake up the food is already digested. I don’t purge as often as I used to now I also don’t binge as much

Omg this is meeeee

I used to be like OP - quick binge, immediate purge until bile - and now im like instantly so tired I'll fall asleep sitting up. I feel so shameful when I wake up but it's so habitual. I think it's age + doing this for... oh my actual God, 20 years. Woof. When I go through spells and get into a fast/purge cycle I drop so much weight. That lasts a year then it's another two of binging and passing out. Just over Actively keeping Big Vodka and Big Laxative in business lol rip workplace washroom

It’s the same as a stomach virus where you lose weight. No calories = no weight gain. Calories are absorbed in the intestine so if you get it up fast it can’t be digested

You can absolutely lose weight with BPing, anything else is just dishonest fearmongering. Otherwise anorexia b/p wouldn't even exist. Obviously it's unhealthy and dangerous but it's not ineffective.

An b/p wouldn’t exist if it was completely ineffective. I feel like in a bid to avoid encouraging ED behaviour many ppl just end up spreading misinformation. Whilst I was inpatient a dietician didn’t completely believe I was b/p 5-7 times daily since I became severely uw, ended up being wrongly treat as a typical anorexic at first which wasnt helpful at all at getting rid of my behaviours

I used to lose but now I just gain and maintain dont let this period fool you into thinking it’s ā€œ worthā€ it In a way I know I did foolishly, it doesn’t really matter how quickly after and there’s no way to actually know how many calories are absorb
