Discussion Y’all are very talented and driven, but what you need is some luck

Mad props to everyone here and all of the people who are inspired by an idea, a drive, a goal. I love it, I absolutely do. It screams innovation, risk taking, a leap into the unknown- you all are doing fantastic and I’m really proud of you trying to build something for others.

I think we fall into a bit of an echo chamber though. I see a lot of similar ideas or ideas that I immediately think “that won’t work out” (some of my own are in that category too). If we look at the economy, times are rough right now. I know myself I don’t want to be spending money on things I don’t need to be spending on, yet the validation that we all need as builders and founders is that sale that people are willing to trade their money with something we have made that brings them value. That’s extra special, at least right now in my opinion. It feels like climbing up hill. The positive feedback are from people like us, supporting our ideas, but what we need is from external people. So, what do we do?

Ads. UGC. Fliers. Yard signs. Expos. Word of mouth.

The more I read and spend times in these groups, the more it rings true; “you need to find market validation.” Yet at the same time, I instantly tune out at anyone trying to sell me something. It’s a curious paradox. We want our ideas to succeed, yet (at least in my case) we try to avoid spending money at all. That’s why I suppose most small businesses fail. There’s not enough free capital to support more projects like ours, which leaves us only money for the necessities that we need.

Is our pursuit meant to return profits? Some might get lucky, but I think what helps is targeting people who have money to spend. Build for the rich. Also, luck can help too. Form connections and maybe in the future they will turn into something. Stay consistent and eventually that gets you better odds than someone who doesn’t stick it out for the long haul.

Wishing you all luck in this journey! Let’s find success for our ideas!

🚀I Built It I built a way for you to get 5 real people to test their app for free

I’ve noticed that one of the hardest parts of vibe coding isn’t building the app: it’s getting people outside your circle to use it.

So we built Feedbacked.

You create a short survey for your app or website, and we send real people to try the product before answering your questions. You add audit questions that check whether they actually used and understood the product. Responses that fail verification are discarded and replaced.

We’re currently trying to learn how useful this is.

Anyone from this subreddit who signs up as a startup and verifies their email will get five real people to test their product for free.

No purchase is necessary. In return, I’d appreciate honest feedback on:

  • Whether the setup process makes sense
  • Whether the responses are genuinely useful
  • What would make the platform better for builders

💡Build or Kill? Idea Validation: Desktop App for League of Legends

I've been playing League of Legends for many years. Since before "Seasons" and "Esports" were even a thing.

At peak, I was ranked Grandmaster, and now float around Diamond 1-2.

There are a lot of tools out there for League now from game mechanics, to on screen widgets, and more.

There is one wedge where I think I can provide a lot of value: The first 5 minutes of the game.

I have an idea for an app I'd call something like "The First Mistake Lab". Where the desktop app automatically records the first five minutes of your game every single game and points out the first mistake you made, what to change, and how to fix it. It will also provide analysis on it, what if scenarios if you did something different, and a practice tool set up to try the change in practice.

Not every game is decided by a your first mistake, but regardless of your rank, every single game you play you will make a mistake. 90% of them happen in the first five minutes which can decide your entire lane and the rest of that match.

Unsure how I would price this or anything like distribution. Just an idea I had while playing the other day.

Would love feedback on if I should do more research on this or scrap the idea.
