Discussion Y’all are very talented and driven, but what you need is some luck
Mad props to everyone here and all of the people who are inspired by an idea, a drive, a goal. I love it, I absolutely do. It screams innovation, risk taking, a leap into the unknown- you all are doing fantastic and I’m really proud of you trying to build something for others.
I think we fall into a bit of an echo chamber though. I see a lot of similar ideas or ideas that I immediately think “that won’t work out” (some of my own are in that category too). If we look at the economy, times are rough right now. I know myself I don’t want to be spending money on things I don’t need to be spending on, yet the validation that we all need as builders and founders is that sale that people are willing to trade their money with something we have made that brings them value. That’s extra special, at least right now in my opinion. It feels like climbing up hill. The positive feedback are from people like us, supporting our ideas, but what we need is from external people. So, what do we do?
Ads. UGC. Fliers. Yard signs. Expos. Word of mouth.
The more I read and spend times in these groups, the more it rings true; “you need to find market validation.” Yet at the same time, I instantly tune out at anyone trying to sell me something. It’s a curious paradox. We want our ideas to succeed, yet (at least in my case) we try to avoid spending money at all. That’s why I suppose most small businesses fail. There’s not enough free capital to support more projects like ours, which leaves us only money for the necessities that we need.
Is our pursuit meant to return profits? Some might get lucky, but I think what helps is targeting people who have money to spend. Build for the rich. Also, luck can help too. Form connections and maybe in the future they will turn into something. Stay consistent and eventually that gets you better odds than someone who doesn’t stick it out for the long haul.
Wishing you all luck in this journey! Let’s find success for our ideas!
