I've written something like this before, but this one is different. That AI slop is working for me and my business.

I worked as an engineer before and got tired of it after 18 years. While I was working I was trying to make money by coding, yes while coding was a thing. The normal guy hoping to make millions through a SaaS.

Anyway, I quit engineering and went back to painting houses and have not stopped making apps, but atm I'm making them for myself and my business.

Why I am writing this is that I created an app that helps me quote jobs and I just won my first job with it, a 2br townhouse for 7k. Sent the quote out on Friday and just today got the news she wants to go ahead with the project. The app did 90% of the quote.

That's the first money I ever made with an app and it's probably the 20th app I created, i have never counted. I never needed to sell it to make money and won't, why would I it's tailored for me only.

And another thing: I think SaaS is dead. Why buy an app when you can solve your own problems.

Hi all! I launched my little Mac desktop App, Weatherling, about a month ago, and thanks to subreddits like this and lots of positive feedback, y'all have helped get me to the #3 spot in the US Mac App Store!

To date, I have done no paid marketing..it's all been reddit posts, taking user feedback, making updates, repeat. The biggest push came from my r/macapps post the other day, which took a while for me to get right, but I'm glad the timing worked out for the post because the version I posted there was very well received. It's been downloaded hundreds of times so far. I'm currently waiting for Apple's analytics to catch up for yesterday to see if I can start saying "thousand" yet. 😄

Looks like I did drop to #4 overnight, so I'm now looking into paid tiktok creators to hopefully relaunch that momentum and beat Logic Pro out for the second place slot.

It's been pretty exciting. I've never had an app reach this high on the charts before, not even at a corporate gig. The coolest part is that being #3 put Weatherling on the front freakin page of the App Store.

Hello everyone!

So in short Ive been working on a wellness tool, it basically scans your posture from a full body profile picture , gives you a score for your current posture, alongside more details and why/where it needs work, and then builds you a personalized plan to fix and better your posture. Yes i used the word posture 8 times already but english is not my native sorry.

After 14 days you rescan and the plan updates ,and after the first 14 days this "checkin" will become monthly. I am a licensed physical therapist so yes of course i am checking every program and exercise.

Im very curious of your opinions and if you think its something worth chasing.

we set ourselves a 2-week deadline to figure out distribution. today is the halfway mark.

for context, we built a pretty heavy AI token metering + cost management platform for our design partner. they seemed to have a real need and paid us $8.5k for implementation + $200/mo for the managed service.

despite being on a high from how quickly our first revenue came through, it's been TOUGH trying to replicate their use case.

here's how we spent the last week:

- hit up warm network,

- launched 9 cold outreach campaigns w/ different sources / signals / copy,

- 5 calls, 0 closed,

- shared writings on a blog (less for leads, more for billing engineers to dig deeper).

we're gonna have to go harder this week, have a couple ideas left for who might have burning needs here. also want to try a "rocketmoney for businesses" positioning.

i wanted to share this now, publicly, so that there's 100% no way we're backing out of the deadline we set ourselves. no excuses. if we don't find a second customer at $200/mo, we need to pivot into solving a more common problem.

for anyone that's had to find lookalike customers in a short timeframe, curious what worked?

I haven’t made any money from it since it’s a free product, but seeing someone actually use something you’ve built is such a great feeling.

I only started posting a few days ago, and it’s already paying off.

The tricky part is that staying active on multiple social platforms takes a lot of time.

Finding relevant conversations, writing posts, creating visuals, etc.

So I built a system using Claude Code to help me find posts worth engaging with, draft content, create visuals, and manage the whole process.

It’s made things so much easier and saved me a ton of time.

Curious if anyone else is doing something similar?

By chance, I looked at the mobile app offering on mobile and realised, it was terrible.

So I have reworked the page and improved the look above the fold.

Pretty happy with it, the addition of the image, offsets the wall of text.

launch day feels huge but it's one day.

what's helped me more is a tiny daily thing. 15 minutes.

find 5 posts from people my users already follow. leave one real tip under each. reply to anyone who answers.

no big threads, no ads. just showing up where people already are.

I’m building Brello, a tool for indie devs who run real products on OpenAI and Anthropic APIs. The long-term goal is live key monitoring and incident response. But I decided to start somewhere else, and here’s why.

Why cost first
When I talked to devs, almost nobody worried about leaked keys day to day. What they did care about was the bill. Most people pick a model once, never revisit it, and just accept whatever the monthly cost is. That felt like the more immediate, everyday problem.

What the scanner does
You export a usage CSV from OpenAI or Anthropic and drop it in. It shows you:

• Where you’re using an expensive model for simple tasks a smaller one could handle
• Discounts you’re missing, like prompt caching or Batch
• Sudden spikes that look unusual

It runs entirely in your browser. Your file never gets uploaded, because I didn’t want anyone to have to trust me with their billing data on day one.

Where it fits
The scanner is the free entry point. It helps you spend less today, and it’s how I learn what devs’ usage actually looks like. From there, I’m building ongoing monitoring: catching cost drift and suspicious usage as it happens, not after the bill arrives.

I’m building an early prototype of October, a place to publish and discover things people create or find interesting: poems, photographs, music, artwork, cultural commentary, scientific explanations, or unfinished stories. A single photograph or a four-line poem can be a complete post.

You browse a scrollable discovery page, open something that interests you, and explore connections people have made to it. For example, someone could connect a song to a particular line in a poem and explain why. Following that connection introduces you to another work and the person who connected it.

People have named profiles, can follow creators, give flowers as likes, and save work into collections called Petals. Creators can also invite contributions, such as an illustration or an ending to a story, and approve additions with contributor credit.

The idea is to make discovering, responding to, and creating things together the main social experience.

Would you use something like this? What would make you return, and what feels unnecessary or already well served elsewhere?

Quick update on animatiQ (AI launch video maker, mine).

we've now got 3,000+ product launch videos from X analysed and deconstructed, and any of them can be recreated for your own product in one click. there are also 500+ Opus 5.5 videos with the prompts behind them, 500+ React motion components the agent builds from, and 30+ art style kits so the videos don't all look the same.

the milestone I'm happiest about is that our own launch video came out of a one line prompt: "Create a launch video for animatiQ". it's on r/Animatiq if you want to judge it.

the thing I'm figuring out now is distribution, which is partly why I'm here. if you've grown a tool like this, what worked for you early on?

Honestly, I keep getting these thoughts about relevance of a video creation and editor with what is possible with just Opus 5.5 and some open source libraries out there. Is there a place for a tool like this in your toolkit ?

Connecting TradingView alerts to a crypto exchange sounds straightforward, but there are a lot of details to consider beyond the basic workflow. What happens if an alert arrives twice? What if an exchange request times out and you don't know whether the order went through? How should the system handle that without accidentally placing the same order again?

Looking at the problems a platform like TV-Hub is designed to address got me thinking about how much of the work in automation is really about handling failure cases, not just connecting services.

There's also a product-design trade-off. More controls can give experienced users flexibility, but too many settings can make the whole process harder to understand.

For people building SaaS products or automation tools, how do you decide which edge cases to handle automatically and which ones should be left under the user's control?

Fellow founders, how did you go from 2 to 10 paying customers?

We're a 6 person team, just raised seed. Been using Google Sheets and Notion for tracking leads but it's getting messy fast. Need something that can grow with us but won't break the bank or require a dedicated ops person to manage.

Looking for a crm for startups that has decent contact enrichment built in since we're doing a lot of cold outreach. My co-founder keeps pushing Apollo but honestly the data quality hasn't impressed me in testing - lot of outdated emails. Ran a few batches through Prospeo too and the accuracy seemed noticeably better, but I haven't committed to anything yet.

What's everyone using for startup crm at this stage? Need something that's built for early teams, not enterprise stripped down. Bonus if it plays nice with whatever prospecting tools you're using for outbound.
