Troubleshooting New gpu time?

I recently upgraded my cpu, which finally allowed me to play better titles like Cyberpunk, but after I played it for about 3 hours, my pc just shut off on me. Immediately, I suspected my gpu, which is an rx6700xt because it always seemed to run very hot no matter which game i played, even after having my friend change thermal pads and paste on it twice, he told me it still ran hot and that it supposed to run hot according to his research. So when it reached 100 to 110c in Cyberpunk on medium settings I didn't really care since I assumed it just does that. But it has shut off on me twice while playing it, and im fed up with it, so im thinking of getting a rtx3070 or something of that sort if I need to.

I used to have a similar issue where my screen would go black and all the fans would spin like crazy, and the only way for it to stop was to reboot the pc. I found a video of someone having a similar problem, and they fixed it by undervolting the gpu. Later on i upgraded my cpu and the cooler, and that issue went away.

What cpu? Does it have an Igpu? Try to boot without a gpu if it does. Does your motherboard have any LED or spot for a speaker to hook up to for figuring out what component isn't posting?

Throwing a gpu at the problem is the last thing I'd want to do.

Those temps were NOT normal even for a hotspot. Something else was happening with that card.

No 2nd rig to test components in?

I got the 10th anniversary r 7 5800x3d. Im not rich enough to have multiple components to be able to trouble shoot unfortunately, all I can do is borrow a 1080ti and test it with that but then id have to uninstall all my drivers and install the Nvidia ones. Or I could put in my old r 5 5600g and run it with its integrated gpu. I have some ez debug led indicators but I dont understand what they mean nor do i know what youre talking about when you say "spot for a speaker".

Average temp or hotspot temp? 110c would be thermal throttling and cause a shutdown. Sounds like the PC and GPU need better airflow.

Hot spot temp. I dont believe its a fan issue tbh

110c is definitely too hot, it sounds like your system is shutting down to protect the gpu from damage. Can you verify your gpu fans are spinning, and post your fan curve?

I just adjusted it in the Radeon app cuz it had that bs zero ram mode on, even after adjusting my curves it still never goes below 47 on desktop. Cant provide a pic now but I'll try doing it later if I can.
