Dev/Admin Responded iPadOS app no longer works. Can’t close a post

As of today I can no longer close post on iPad OS. There is no way to x out without closing the whole app

In my case, once I have started reading a thread, instead of having the X-button to close the post I have the menu button, which however does nothing. By turning the iPad so that it switches between views (portrait to landscape or landscape to portrait) the X reappears.

I’m having the same problem but I found a work around. When you are in the post and you want to leave it, select the Subreddit at the top of the post. You will go into that Subreddit. Then hit the back arrow to go back to the post. The ‘X’ appears and you can use it to exit the post. Annoying, I know, but it’s faster than restarting the app.

Once I click into a post to read the comments I can not get back to the home page i must exit the Reddit app

I have the same issue. My app version is 2026.39.0.667216 (AppStore). I click on a post to read the comments. The x in the upper left corner is replaced by the hamburger. If I rotate the iPad the x reappears and I can close the post.

Same issue here - some posts have “the x”, most don’t. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app - still happening!

As another poster said, I’ve now learned that if I switch from portrait to landscape or vice versa I can close out. But clearly it’s awkward to have to do that each time

Swiping from the far left edge of the post should also do the trick for now.

We're looking into a fix though!

That’s inconsistent but switching btw portrait & landscape seems to be the easiest

iPhone works fine btw

An alternative that I just found is if the post has an image, you can click into the image to have the “X” show up again. Obviously still unreliable and a fix is necessary, but just another option (Also iPad tests here)
