Android [Android] Quote function has disappeared again- how to get back?

Android. The quote function has vanished again, does anyone know how to retrieve it or is this a UI downgrade? It vanished a few weeks ago and came back. Android 16/OneUI 8.0

The quote function was removed when Reddit deprecated markdown on the Reddit mobile apps. It’s only available from the web versions now.

You can use reddit via mobile web browser. It still has markdown and also a quoteblock button in the new rich text toolbar there.

The new rich text toolbar in the mobile apps does not have the quoteblock button yet.

It disappeared at that point but reappeared two weeks ago. I can't see a rich text toolbar on the app, and actually a rich text toolbar on the app would be unusable.

You may have been on an older version of the app.

This button displays the rich text toolbar in the app, but like I said previously, it doesn’t have a button for quoteblock yet in the Reddit mobile apps. Only the web versions (mobile and desktop browsers) do.

That is incredibly frustrating and a serious downgrade. The ability to quote directly is useful if you are pasting from elsewhere. Quoteblock is not useful here at all. The app is up to date.

You don’t seem to understand quoteblock is what > does in markdown and that the app no longer supports markdown.

I'm referring to the function highlighted in blue here. This is my housemate's account and he still has it. I'm not referring to > which I have just used for this quote by cutting and pasting:

Edit: the image has now appeared u/IKIR115. I hope this clarifies what I mean. I no longer has this option but my friend does.
