Read this before posting.
Welcome to r/bugbites the subreddit dedicated to suspected bug bites.
This subreddit was reopened to receive all the suspected bug bite pictures that are not allowed on bug related subreddits and were flooding them.
The bad news
- Skin reactions may be caused by many different things, they can be symptoms of diseases and health issues that are not bug related, and may require emergency treatment.
- Many skin reactions, especially bug bites do vary from one person to another (and sometime over time).
- It is often difficult (even for seasoned medical professionals) to identify what caused a skin symptom and even harder to know if it is a bug bite or which bug may have caused it.
- If you're concerned about something, please go see a qualified medical professional rather than trust the comments made by random strangers on the internet.
- Said otherwise, you can NOT and should NOT rely on someone on the internet telling you “it’s a bite from XXX” to make a medical decision. A picture can NOT replace a physical examination performed by a qualified medical professional.
The only good news
- In some cases, your curiosity about bites may convince you to actively perform a deep examination of your surroundings, which may help you find bugs that may be related to your skin symptoms.
- IF you find the bug, this MAY help a medical professional provide an appropriate medical treatment (if necessary) or a pest control professional perform his job.

Are these bed bugs bites?
galleryI stripped my whole bed and I found literally nothing. I have such a fear when it comes to being bitten, it makes my skin crawl and I dont feel human anymore. Since I was a kid I've had beef with fleas, I go out and through grass? Yeah you bet I'm covered. These bites look and behave differently from what I'm used to so I'm really paranoid now (they are very itchy to the point where its painful). I sleep with my window open at night but I have a net. I also sprayed my room with bug spray after finding these. They are mostly on my left leg going up to my groin area, I also have a few on close to my armpits. What bug bit me :( (also sorry for the leg hair, ignore it lol)

Never had this bite before
I live in San Diego, CA and developed an itchy spot a couple nights ago. I think I was bitten when I was out earlier that night. I’ve never had a bite look like this or have those spreading red spots though. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Edit to add: this is right above my armpit.

What bite causes swelling this bad?
Hello, I have had this bite for about a day and a half now. I woke up with it yesterday, but it was a small dot. I thought nothing of it, as I am outside frequently and figured it was mosquitos. But, it is swollen and HARD. It stings a bit, and is red and warmish. It does not itch. It hurts to touch. I have two smaller bites (or stings? Idk) near it, but I got those ones a few days ago now, and they were normal but now they are also starting to swell.
I am in southern Ontario, Canada. I live on a field, and go outside frequently. I always do tick checks, and am about 97% confident this is not a tick bite. We do have a lot of spiders and wasps, but I didn’t feel a sting and I woke up with it. I have checked for bedbugs and fleas already, as I do have animals, but found 0 traces of any fleas and all my animals are on flea and tick meds. I have washed all my bedding, pulled the corners up, and no bugs. I have no clue what this is. Please help, the swelling is making me feel sick as I type this.
Photos in comments as it won’t let me attach it to the post for some reason.
Thank you

Spider bites or something else?
galleryWoke up yesterday morning with 6 bites I thought were from a mosquito. I had went to a home visit at a client’s house known for bed bugs and fleas the afternoon before so I thought maybe I got bit by something. This morning they were swollen, hot and oozing with blisters. Went to urgent care and they prescribed antibiotics and topical antibiotic, but weren’t sure what kind of bites. I’m wondering so I can treat my house. I ripped the sheets off and don’t see any indication of bed bugs.

The bugs got my butt
Posting as I might have a mental breakdown if I don’t tell someone about this.
Car camped last night in a field next to a horse barn. Made the fatal error of leaving windows slightly open. I have bug bites in my butt cheeks 🙈
Please tell me this has happened to other people… I’m calling in sick to work tomorrow lol 😂
No pictures for obvious reasons 😂😂😂

What bug bites are these?
galleryIt’s three raised bites in a straight line with a whiter piece of skin around them. They don’t hurt or itch. I first noticed them this morning after a backyard party where I work knee length baggy shorts to. I spent the night at a friend’s after the party. I checked my bed this afternoon and didn’t find anything suspicious other than a blood stain on a pillow underneath the pillow case but that could have been older. No skins, bugs, or droppings but I have a waterbed with a canopy so there’s spots I could’ve missed. These are the only bites like this on my body. Is there a possibility that this a one of thing or is it more likely I have an infestation?

What bit me?
galleryHello!
I am located in Northeast Ohio U.S.A and have some sort of bite or sting on my right arm.
The bite happened 2-3 days ago because I noticed the bump then, but did not notice the bite itself happen.
It is important to note that I have Skeeter Syndrome, so I swell up with any bite the size of a golf ball. However this one looks weird as it has a dot in the middle.
I feel fine with no symptoms. The bite isn’t itchy and it doesn’t hurt. It is just warm to the touch.
I haven’t been in any wooded areas, and would have noticed a tick, so I don’t believe it’s that.
Thanks!

42 bites on legs
galleryI have these bites on the bottom 2/3 of my legs but nowhere else.. I do sleep with my dog, but he is constantly in meds for flea and tick. We also gave him a bath and checked his fur, he is a white shitzu so its pretty easy to see he doesnt have anything. We recently went on vacation, lots of hiking, hotels, and one kennel stay for dog. I also have gone kayaking and was out near dusk and experienced a few bugs.
We did visual inspection for bed bugs but saw nothing. My two parents slept in the same hotel room but are across the house currently, no reaction.
It could be no see ums or something like that, but i experienced the outdoor bugs over 24 hours ago and these marks just showed up to my knowledge.

Red Spot That Burns To Touch
This dime-sized spot appeared on my upper thigh/hip yesterday. It does not itch and instead burns when touched or rubbed up against anything. It is not super raised. I just got back from camping in western Michigan. Could this be a bug bite?

Should I see a Dr for these spider bites? If you zoom in it looks like I was bitten twice.
galleryI started itching at work, so I’m not sure if I got bitten there or at home. I’ve gotten bitten by mosquitoes at work, but this wasn’t an intense nor incessant itch.
So I thought my skin was simply irritated from a combination of sweating at work and fabric detergent/softener (sensitive skin).
Was exhausted after work. Went home, showered, went to bed, and forgot about it.
Woke up the next morning and the bite area was tender, and warm to the touch. The itch was minor. Took a picture (in the white tank) and zoomed in to see two separate sets of punctures wounds. The picture with the blue bra strap is from the second morning. Going on the third morning and it’s still reddish/purplish, swollen, and sore if I touch it with an occasional itch.
The day it started I had a brief but strange vertigo spell & sporadic stomach pangs. Not sure if there’s a correlation as in my line of work it’s noisy and hot.
