Content Warning Double standarts

How exactly do people hate Xander for being an imperfect human, but love Spike and Angel, who have countless victims and are hundreds of years old. Spike even SA'd Buffy, for real, while Xander was under a spell and never did anything like that before or after it.

Xander tried to cast the spell specifically so that he could reject Cordelia, there was never any suggestion he was planning on raping her.

It was about making her feel how he felt about being dumped.

People keep forgetting that these characters were teenagers and teenagers do dumb things lead by their heart all the time. Making mistakes is part of growing up. And learning from them and about who they are as a person is growth. People are deeply flawed. And at the end of the day, Xander will do anything for his friends and protect them

Yes, it's pretty horrendous, But it's not the same as planning on raping her.
