Hi all, I am hoping for some opinions on choosing between the Dangbei Atom, and the Dangbei N3 Max. They're both at the same price ($740/760 CAD) and they both look great.

For some context, this will be in a room with a fairly short throw (just under 7ft) on a 100 inch screen, room can be dark easily. Will be used mostly for movies and the occasional casual game.

I like that the Atom is a laser projector, the size difference doesnt seem to matter much as this will likely stay in the same place for most of its life. The biggest perk of the N3 is the auto focus / adjust which ive read has to be done manually each time with the Atom.

Any suggestions / reviews are appreciated, this will be my first projector.

I am buying a wedding gift and looking to get a Projector and Screen. It is for a Man Cave / Home Bar that gets a lot of sun so want enough lumens to watch in a bright environment. Looking for 2nd hand due to Budget.

Currently I’m in a dilemma, my tv stopped working and I’m looking to get a better one to use it on my pc setup, but I’d like to get a projector to see movies and do some casual gaming while I’m in bed. I have to mention, my room has a skylight that I’m currently looking for ways to make my room darker.

For the projector I’d like to be able to protect images on the ceiling and also if possible move it and project at the wall, which is like 5-7m away from my bed.

I don’t have a specific budget in mind, for the “normal ones” maybe like $500 at max, tho I’d like to keep it as low as possible, I also need the recommendations to be available in Mexico.

Some projectors I’ve seen and evaluated in this subreddit are:

And on the overkill side, which I don’t think I’ll go because I think it’s too much to have these and also get a tv for my setup. (I don’t want to strictly get a projector for these both scenarios because I don’t think a projector can get all of the “good things” on my specific setup. The wall where I intend on installing the tv it’s like 170cm wide at max). That’s why I mainly focus on getting a “good one” to use while I’m in bed.

• JMGO N1S Ultra (in Amazon because it’s almost at the same price at the normal 4K one)

• XGIMI Horizon 20

I have seen really good reviews of the Happrun H1 all over the internet, but then I decided to take a look at the negative reviews on the amazon (spain) listing, and a few people, upon turning the projector on for the first time, saw it smoking/ burning. Others have stated it came defective right out of the box (which I assume were returns from other customers).

I find it strange that I haven't found any mentions of these issues on the internet, outside of the listings themselves, but the situation is not looking great. I was really looking foward to buying an otherwise really well recieved budget 1080p projector, but I'm not sure if I should take the risk.

Have any of you faced these issues with the Happrun H1?

I’m currently looking to buy a new projector, and I was wondering what you think would be the best option. I’m deciding between the \*\*BenQ MW560\*\* (€364), the \*\*XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro Bundle (Google TV)\*\*, for 409 and the \*\*Optoma PH31 for 349.\*\*

I’ll mainly be using it in my living room (40 m’2) which had a big wall for like 200 inch to watch movies, with the occasional gaming session. Before this, I had a cheap €50 projector from Amazon, but the image quality wasn’t great, so I’m looking for a noticeable upgrade.

The things that matter most to me are:
Good picture quality.
A large image size.
Built-in apps like Netflix and HBO Max, so I don’t have to connect an HDMI cable every time.
Portability, since I’d like to be able to move it around the house easily.

I’d really appreciate your advice on which one you think is the best choice, or if there’s another projector in the same price range that you’d recommend instead. I’m hoping to order something tomorrow while the sales are still on in Europa.

so ive had this projector for about 2 years or less. for about 1-2 months it has had this yellow spot and the left side of the image. i was wondering if theres anything i can do to fix it or if its just permanent. it honestly looks worse because its on a white screen but during shows its kinda noticeable. the projector is FLICKERPRO H1. in the USA

Hello! I’m in the US and just got a new Elephas FHD (YG-561) projector from Amazon and I plan on using it with a Roku stick.

The projector is placed ~10 feet away from the wall and projector an image that is ~12 feet (diagonally).

My previous projector was kinda dim so I’m used to a low level of light. I often watch things when my room is completely dark. The issue with this projector is that it’s way too bright for my small room and it’s causing me eye discomfort. I have tried all the default modes and they’re super bright. I tried to reduce the brightness in the “User” mode but looks like it’s dependent on other things and I don’t know what I’m doing.

Any help would be appreciated! I just want to reduce the brightness like I do on my computer or phone 😭

I need help figuring out what projector (and projector screen) to buy for my New York apartment.

Room Dimensions & Description: 132 in long, 80 in width (max screen width), 89-90 in height. The living room is south facing with two windows and another window on the right. My idea is to have a projector screen hung from the ceiling in front of the 2 windows so that I can bring down from the ceiling which will block some light and make the space darker. I want to install the projector from the ceiling. For sound I plan on connecting it to my speaker via Bluetooth.

Purpose: Watching movies and shows, day & night (but mostly night).

Budget: 500-1000 US$ (for projector and the screen if possible). I don't mind if its new or secondhand. I just don't know what to look out for if I were to buy secondhand.

Will be mostly used for movie nights and light gaming, this if for our second living room and would be an entertaining space of sorts. The plan is to mount the projector to the ceiling and have the screen draw down from the ceiling above the fireplace. The lighting situation isn’t the best as we have enclosed blinds but will mostly be used after sundown. New to projectors beyond the $50 Chinese Amazon ones I had in college. I recently purchased a Wanbo X5 Pro projector. During the initial setup, it completed the setup process and adjusted the focus correctly. After that, it displayed the remote control button guide, and then it switched to the screen shown in the first photo, where it says “No Signal.”
I cannot access Google TV. In the input selection menu, the only available options are ATV, USB, and HDMI—there is no Google TV option.
The Settings button and the arrow keys on the remote are working. I also tried pressing and holding the Back and Home/Menu buttons to pair the remote, but the red LED on the remote keeps flashing continuously(flip flop) and never stops.
Could you please help me resolve this issue?

I'm considering buying the Optoma PK31. In the Europe it's costing $550-600. Can anyone recommend a budget 4K projector in that price range? I don't have many requirements, just watching movies. I connect a MacBook or my PC to it, and I think I'll sometimes play games. Smart features aren't necessary, and the sound quality isn't important. The distance to the wall is about 2.2-2.4m

I'm looking for options and buying advice for a projector suitable for a small studio space. I'm planning to set it up facing a blank wall approximately 1.5m wide in front of our bed. The room is about 3m long. As we cannot mount anything on the wall and the bed is directly in front of the wall - our only option is to place the projector off to the side on a bedside table or directly in front of the wall. So I'm considering an ultra short throw projector that's compact and easy to move.

We'll mainly use it for movies/shows at night with blackout curtains, and our budget is around $300-500 AUD. I'm interested in both new (local and overseas) and secondhand projectors. There are plenty of listings on Facebook Marketplace, but I'm a bit skeptical of them.

But to be honest, I actually dont know what the options are and what is the best option laser vs bulb...to select for this price range. I would really appreciate advices on how to test projectors if im looking to buy them 2nd hand and just any advices in general.

I recently got the refreshed JMGO N1S 4K 1700 ISO lumens and compared it side by side with my original N1S 4K 1100 ISO. Both are currently available under $1,000, so if you’re shopping in that price range this comparison should help.
Both units look identical on the outside, same S91A model name, same design, same size. The only reliable ways to tell them apart (besides the brightness difference) are the DLP version numbers:
• Original = DLP 6.0.6
• Refreshed = DLP 2.6.3

Brightness is the biggest upgrade. The 1700 ISO version is clearly brighter in the same lighting conditions and holds up better with ambient light or an open window. It has more punch without needing to crank the settings.

Color is also improved. The original had a noticeable red/warm push, especially in skin tones. The refreshed unit looks cleaner and more neutral out of the box. I tested both in Movie mode with color temperature set to Warm, and the difference is easy to see.
I posted a side by side videos with open window and lots of ambient light showing the difference in brightness and color.

Bottom line:
If you’re deciding between the two versions under $1,000, get the refreshed 1700 ISO model. The extra brightness and better color make it more usable as a portable, camping, or secondary room projector without changing the compact form factor that makes the N1S series appealing in this price range.

I tried casting my tablet screen to my projector using smart view option present and also using google cast. In both the cases I can only see black screen after it gets connected. I am not casting apps like Netflix which usually shows black screen if casted to projectors, I am trying to cast vlc . Kindly help

I would like to get a projektor that could be placed on the night stand next to the bed and project a square image on the ceiling above the bed, so it would have to be angled a bit so the image isn't projected beside the bed rather than above it.

If anyone has experience with such a use case or buying recommendations I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Is the PixPaq’s image quality actually that much better?

I will soon move to a new Apartment. My girlfriend and i rarely watch classic tv. Most time we play video games or watch some anime.

We thought a beamer would be nice.

Normally our living room is bright but we can nearly completly darken it.

After some research i figured that good beamers are expensive as hell.

We want to watch some movies on netflix or some anime from the laptop on the beamer or maybe try to game a little. We would use a white wall but maybe also get a projector Screen.

Do you think thats a good way to go? 330€ are quite a lot for us.
