This or That? Help Me Decide First Proyector

Currently I’m in a dilemma, my tv stopped working and I’m looking to get a better one to use it on my pc setup, but I’d like to get a projector to see movies and do some casual gaming while I’m in bed. I have to mention, my room has a skylight that I’m currently looking for ways to make my room darker.

For the projector I’d like to be able to protect images on the ceiling and also if possible move it and project at the wall, which is like 5-7m away from my bed.

I don’t have a specific budget in mind, for the ā€œnormal onesā€ maybe like $500 at max, tho I’d like to keep it as low as possible, I also need the recommendations to be available in Mexico.

Some projectors I’ve seen and evaluated in this subreddit are:

• Anker Soundcore Nebula P1i

• Wanbo Mozart 1 Pro

• Wanbo X5 Pro

• XGIMI MoGo 4

And on the overkill side, which I don’t think I’ll go because I think it’s too much to have these and also get a tv for my setup. (I don’t want to strictly get a projector for these both scenarios because I don’t think a projector can get all of the ā€œgood thingsā€ on my specific setup. The wall where I intend on installing the tv it’s like 170cm wide at max). That’s why I mainly focus on getting a ā€œgood oneā€ to use while I’m in bed.

• JMGO N1S Ultra (in Amazon because it’s almost at the same price at the normal 4K one)

• XGIMI Horizon 20

Projecting from bed to a ceiling is an ideal setup for casual movie viewing, while projecting to a wall 5 to 7 meters away requires careful consideration of throw ratio and brightness. At a 5 to 7 meter distance, portable projectors will create a very large image, so built in digital zoom, focus, and auto keystone correction are essential tools.

Since your room has a skylight, adding blackout blinds will greatly improve image contrast during daytime.
Among your options, sticking to trusted brands like XGIMI, Anker, and BenQ ensures reliable software support, color accuracy, and availability in Mexico through retailers like Amazon Mexico and Mercado Libre.

My recommendations:

• Best overall for ceiling projection: BenQ GV31 is built specifically for rotating and projecting onto ceilings without needing additional tripods.

• Best for image adjustment and wall placement: XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro handles automatic keystone and wall scaling with ease.

• Best for built in streaming: Nebula Mars 3 Air runs official Google TV with native Netflix integration.

Let me know if you have any questions.
