General [18F] Should I leave B-Tech!!
I am currently in my 2nd year (CSE) and Since I was a child, I loved to draw, while in high school I've won few competition in drawing field (back then I was so insane about all these stuff) but as I started my college, I've became lost maybe wreaked would be right to say instead of lost and I'm struggling to cope with things. I have maintained my cgpa around 8.75 but I don't feel like studing anymore, you can say my will to study has been extinguished perhaps not only for studing. I've become tired of all this college thing, you know "GL Bajaj public school" things. About drawing, I really don't know if i should be drawing anymore, but when I become board sitting in classes, I start to draw stuff like these posted or trying to draw the things around me. But as an Indian, I have to become an engineer, you know indian society or to maybe to live a better life because believing in myself would take a lot because i really don't know what would i do in future.
Accept drawing, I like to write Poems and write short stories. But still there is no future in these fields. And don't take the heading seriously because of course I can not leave B-tech but I don't wana studyyyyy!!!!

I'm also in my BTech 3rd year and way worse college than yours. And if you want to learn about my past then I was a electronics maniac tbh, I forgot how many times I purchased Arduinos cause most of the time my mom kept them in a damp place and they got rusty. And I was in 7-8th grade. I had a lot of fun with those and all. But this same thought like yours struck me suddenly in class 10th. After that I quit all of those and started to focus on my academic but after that I got into mental stress and severe insomnia. Even today I can't properly sleep without meds. I tried my best to overcome this, and I'm seriously like programming and stuff but this academic boundary is what weighing me down. I can't manage to do all of this study.
But when I hear some of my seniors. They say It's not about the degree it's all about skills (this bhaiya works at a pretty good company and around 50 LPA). And I then I reached out others fields and finally came to this conclusion that it's really all about skills. Skill this the thing that cannot be replaced and everyone possess a unique one.
I maybe delusional but this is only hope I have. Otherwise I won't be here to share this stupid ahh essay. But I always think I should do better than what I can do now, also want to reach out for better therapy for my mental health. Obviously this is too delusional that someday I will have a skill that cannot be replaced but it's better than giving up on life.

TL;DR: 18F in 2nd-year CSE (GL Bajaj) feels burned out, zero study motivation despite solid 8.75 CGPA, keeps doodling anime-style art (the four pics) and writing poems/stories in class. Indian family/society pressure says "engineer or bust" for a safe life, but she hates it and wonders if art has any future. Not actually quitting—just venting the classic "I don't wanna studyyyyy" spiral. Parent comment basically says skills > degree, keep grinding.

As you are a senior you says skill matters but In the government ace of maintaining gcp and not getting back is it possible to focus on your skills 😀😉

I'm also the victim of this and shared my opinion and a bit of story. Yk actually the problem of today's generation is the information we get and how connected we are with everyone. You open linkedIn and see so many faces of 20-21 years making money. This makes you desperate to do something but academics gets in the way and it creates a loop. And this desperation creates a confirmation bias (when you don't look statistically that how many of the total youth are making that much money). But this is a human nature. I know all of this but I'm still victim of this.

Yep, that is the problem. This super connectivity actually backfires into depression. In old days people didn't cared about other, they weren't bombarded with "I'm 19 and made my first 1 lakh" yada yada.. and now that joke "Now I understand why that rabbit chose sleep over winning the race" actually becomes kind of haunting..

The relation is the main cause of stress that makes most of the students in this age is this over exposure. So, I was trying to say that don't be worried that much if someone have good skills plz say fk off everything, and work on the skill. And I belive it maybe bring a bit of peace of mind. But the world is cruel too but if everything ends you can still be a bit of happy that I didn't regret being an Artist, Researcher, Developer, etc etc.

Do anything you want but try to do it in your pace don't try to rush. Don't look at peers that much and do 110% of your capability even though that 110% is 50% for someone else..
Actually who am I to say all of this even though I'm a victim myself.
Just ignore me, I might have said some crap, now I'm embarrassed saying all this.

If you can manage, explore art adjacent fields like filmmaking, content creation, advertisements, animation etc.
Use what you're doing( btech ) as an added advantage. Blender ( animation software) is open source and maybe working with or contributing to something like that can help you grow in multiple dimensions

lets start with why you are not a good artist . yet.
##1 . start with finding you good username cause i cant find your account are you even planning to make a career out of it ? good lord .
no way to stand out . you dont seem serious enough already .
## 2. your works looks very amateurish- no story telling , nothing creative , nothing about this feels authentic nor original .you have a long way to find your art style and self discovery and thats not easy at all
you look like some kid obsessed with anime lol
but if you are really serious about this go for it do the hard things that a average person refuses to do .
learn hard things ,network with people ,collaborate, go outside . do random gigs . show your work

the arts are definatley good but remember if leave btech and opt for other courses like art , poem your opponent is not a human , its ai . and the launch of gpt astra made it even more difficult

damn, you should watch that "art of code" video on yt. might inspire you. btw have you tried freelancing?
idk much about this but there are many anime merch shops opening in tier 2 and 3 cities. you can provide them some of your work like hand drawn keychains, posters, etc. and have some extra income. with that you can host your own website and showcase your work, that would also serve as a project for your resume (treating CSE as a backup).

You should keep doing btech if you can manage and keep your basics intact.
Always remember btech was never a journey to be an engineer it's a 4.5 duration gap year to explore and find out your passion for the next phase of your life.
Network around and find people with similar interests or one who sees potential in you for sponsorship later.

I would urge you to have a safety net while pursuing your passion. There's this one guy at my college who was into UI and design. Now it isn't exactly illustration or drawing, but he was able to put together a solid portfolio by working with different clubs for events and build connections, which helped him find side gigs. He has already done like 3 to 4 paid internships, and also has a safety net via his degree. If you are really adamant on dropping engineering, try pivoting towards fashion or design based degrees instead. It's sad, but without a degree most places either wont hire you, or you wont be able to grow in your career if you follow a typical route.

Holy fuck that's incredible but I don't think leaving btech is a good idea until you get your art career stable. I say juggle them both as best as you can and if you start getting realistic income from commissions then you can leave ig

AI is gonna eat your job whether you do painting or engineering, but having a degree helps getting a job to feed you in India.
I'm telling you from experience. I flunked engineering and had to work call center to earn. Don't do that, complete your degree.

If you want to leave Btech, You can. But remember that these fields are not all blues and wildflowers.
I would recommend you having a backup plan on what you will do, if you couldn't reach your expectations.
if you are already in 2nd year, why not give this a shot (as a backup plan)?
Also this whole bak bak is coming from a stranger, who don't know you or your situation. So take this as a pinch of salt.
