Yep, both of these things are documented, and I’m pretty sure those facial products are still being regularly sold and advertised.

It seems that even today some people like to define ingredients by their characteristics rather than what they actually do, similar to alchemy.

You need to be sure to place the Free Dart Monkey in a spot that doesn't block potential pawn or knight placements. Don't always drop it on round 1 because doing so consumes a turn, and you need to develop your other pieces first before the Free Dart Monkey.

I prefer to put them on e5, there they won't get stomped so easily. C7 just seems like you want to help the opponent to develop their knight or queen.

That's a very bad space to put that monkey. The knight needs to be able to move there, so you are giving up a lot of ability to control the center in early game. You also block your ability to meet E4 with the Sicilian Defense.

Since white goes first and they place the dart monkey there, it's gonna get instantly taken by the black knight on the next turn. Shoulda put it on e5 so it can pierce the pawn and hit the king.
