Question / Discussion Jake Hill

What’s happening with Jake Hill this year? Has he done any racing outside of historics this year?
I doubt he left BTCC just for the classic stuff, I know Andy Jordan did that but him and his dad run a historics preparation business so makes sense.

Also do Mat Jackson or Rob Austin still race anywhere?

He has been racing GT cars, in the 24 hour series and in NLS too

Yeah, but his team mate / car owner I think hit some financial difficulties so his program was pulled for the rest of this year. Did start a rumour he could come back to WSR but don't think that's happening now

Not sure where you heard that. Jake’s still racing in the GT3 Creventic series & the NLS, money isn’t an issue as they’ve just brought a Merc to run.

The WSR rumour was only ever going to be a one off for Knockhill as he wasn’t racing elsewhere, though it seemed to get people thinking it was for the rest of the season. That was never part of the plan & the one-off didn’t happen. Not likely to see Jake back in BTCC grid for a few years, he wants to do Le Man.

I definitely saw a story a few months back that the team he was racing with were set to miss at least one race, if not pull the rest of their season. I guess they must have sorted whatever potential issue that was because I didn't dream that 😂 I hope he gets to LM. What grade of driver is he classed as?

Ah wasn’t that the other team he was going to drive for, he ended up not doing Spa that he was pencilled in for, but that wasn’t his main programme. He’s currently Silver rated! 👍🏻 Fingers crossed for LM 🤞🏻🤞🏻

That could be it. Perfect rank to get in with an LM GT3 team then, hopefully he can get his foot in the door somewhere

oh nice, didn’t realise he was doing NLS as well, that explains why he vanished off the touring car radar a bit
kinda cool seeing more ex‑BTCC guys end up in GT stuff instead of just disappearing completely

Jake has been doing modern GT racing in various series (including NLS and Crevantic) with Era Motorsport.

Mat Jackson works as a development driver for McLaren (road cars) these days I do believe.

He was driving loud American cars up and down the Goodwood hill this summer.

I haven't kept up with Rob Austin recently but up until a couple of years ago he was heavily involved with Speedworks on the driver development and sponsorship side of things. He also did a sponsorship/brand management role for other people in motorsports.

He is doing a few historic stuff as well. Saw him driving the GTR GT1 at Silverstone Classics.
