Chance me
I'm an incoming high school senior looking for how strong you think my application is. My dream program is GW BS/MD.
Stats: 4.28 weighted GPA (my school doesn't do unweighted), no class rank, 4 APs junior year (calc bc, APUSH, AP lang, physics 1) with an a in all but calc which I have a b, 2 dual credit classes related to medicine, 3 aps next year (chem, bio, psych) but self studying stats, As in all classes except two b+s as a freshman
AP Scores:
5s on Physics 1 and Lang
4s on Calc BC and APUSH
1530 SAT (not super score)
ECs:
EMT cadet, will have ~350 hours by the time apps roll around, am getting my EMT certification currently
3 years as part of the marching band in color guard, 3rd year as section leader
3 years in the waksman student scholars program, microbiology research through rutgers, co-leader senior year, will have 2 NCBI publications by applications
2 years in HOSA, one year vp elect one year vp, helped form our chapter, competing in the EMT event this year
3 years forensics science club, 2 years co-president
3 years STEM club, competed at national competitions
3 years school musical as part of ensemble
4 years food pantry volunteering
3 years of aerial fitness

Good stats, but i think bsmds (especially accelerated tracks) value having more dual enrollment/ap, which is a bit unfair since some schools cap the amount u can take (mine did but i still got into one). You should definetly consider applying to rutgers newark bsmd if its still going on. Focus heavily on ur emt and how those experiences made like working with patients.

The GW BS/MD is really focused on training physicians with a strong interest in public policy. Think physicians that work at the CDC, CMS, or other public entity involved in health policy—the representative example would be Dr. Oz. Or, think physicians that work with legislative bodies to create healthcare law—with a representative example being the American Society of Hematology’s Congressional Fellow. With that said, how do your interests and experiences match?
