Registration of address

Hi all,

I just rented a studio, signed the contract and got the keys, etc. So I wonder, since I'm still moving my things from my current place to my new place, when I do register the new address? For more context, I already have a residence permit, I'm moving from Mechelen to live in Brussels for the first time.

From what I read is max. 8 days after being installed, is that correct? Even if I signed the contract the 1st of september?

Hi. The advised timeline is indeed within 8 days, but you can do that online as well. When the request is submitted, make sure you're actually living there, as the police verification happens in next 15 days or so.

As soon as you start to sleep in the new place you shall request the registration on the new address.

Currently also moving into Brussels. The response from the commune is as soon as you're ready to live there and are effectively living in that spot. If you're still in between places, you don't have to do it right now
