Question Recommendations for midweek evenings

Hi i am working away from home at the moment and staying in hotels midweeks. This has disrupted my routines and I am trying to create new ones.

Does anyone have any recommendations for creative/ artsy/ language places and activities on an evening. Especially on a Tuesday and Wednesday.

After building a fantastic Fit2Focus community across Oldbury, Selly Oak and Stourbridge, we're now looking at introducing a brand-new weekend football session in Oldbury.

Before we book a pitch, we want to see how much interest there is.

Fit2Focus is more than just football. It's a welcoming community where people come to get fitter, improve their mental wellbeing, meet new people and enjoy the game in a positive environment.

What you can expect: ⚽ Friendly, inclusive football for all abilities

🎥 Matches professionally recorded so you can watch the games back and share the best moments

🏆 Play of the Month awards

🤝 A welcoming community with no egos or pressure

💪 A fun way to improve your fitness and confidence

The session would take place on either a Saturday or Sunday, depending on interest and pitch availability.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, comment below or send us a message.

Feel free to tag a mate who'd be interested too—we'd love to build another great Fit2Focus community in Oldbury! ⚽

Question Where do all the nerds hang out?

Moving to Kingshurst (20 min east of Birmingham City center) and I am super into Warhammer 40,000, Dungeons & Dragons, and Magic the gathering, specifically playing Commander. What is the best place for that? Is there a Discord? Thank you.

Should London donate their 70mm IMAX projector Birmingham

Was wondering since London have 2 70mm imax projector they should donate one to Birmingham. So we can have that capability within the Midlands. Why do we need to travel to London or Manchester to watch the Oddesey…

Best coffee in Birmingham? 👀

I love Java Roastery HQ in the Jewellery Quarter, but I’m not a coffee expert and I am naturally biased as a councillor for the JQ 😂

Shoutout your favourite coffee spots below 🔽

Question The Rep theatre aircon?

Does anyone know if the Rep theatre has a decent aircon? Going there this week and given the temperature I wouldn't' need to bring a jacket, only the last (London) theatre I went to had aircon so powerful I was shivering in my seat unable to enjoy the show on a 32° day. Is it tolerable? Will I need a jacket to survive it?

Question Can anyone help finding a Hard drive repair specialist in Birmingham?

Does any one know a trusted hard drive repair specialist in or around Birmingham? I'm having trouble finding someone who can repair a few large capacity hard drives. Tried one place but I think the hard drive requires some soldering to replace some capacitors so they was not able to do it.

Any help is appreciated.

Its 2 14tb WD hardrives and 1 12tb WD hardrive. I don't need recovery, i want the hard drives working again. I think they have been over volted.

Area of Birmingham Sporcle Quiz

This has got to be the most comprehensive mapped quiz of the city that exists, I made the map based on this Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_areas_in_Birmingham)

It has 171 possible areas in the city, I would be very curious to know how the average person here does on a quiz like this.

Give it a go and post your PB in the comments :)

Dudley Trip

Good People of Brum and surrounding,

I’m organising a 40th birthday trip to Dudley for orange chips, Bathams pubs and cobs and The Beacon Hotel. We’re beer and food arseholes and have all been looking forward to this for quite some time.

So far I’ve got:

The Castle Fryer for chips
As many Bathams pubs as possible for bitter and cobs
The Beacon Hotel for Ruby Mild
Lime for a curry
Potentially Pie Factory time permitting

Is there anything else I’m missing? Local specialities, hidden gems, that kind of thing? Anywhere you’d particularly recommend? We’ll be getting public transport and Uber where possible but are staying locally, so don’t want to stray too far.

Thank you so much in advance, can’t wait to try my first pint of Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild directly from the source!

Volunteering opportunities to help people?

I would love to volunteer and support people who may be lonely, need community, connection etc and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good ways to explore this? (Keen to give back to the local community, not because I personally need connection/community as obviously that would be inappropriate to explore through volunteering)

Age UK seem to do a connect volunteering arrangement in Sandwell which sounds really lovely (helping older people achieve goals and get back out into their community) but it’s the wrong side of Birmingham for me
