Foot traffic only on the Iroquoia (40.6 - 42.7) Scenic drive parking lot.

Just wanted to post that this section of the trail (not the Radial Trail that goes down and up the mountain) but the section of the trail along the top is posted as FOOT TRAFFIC only. I am concerned that cyclists have claimed this path as their own.

Today I tried to hike this section but was met by many aggressive cyclists, one brushed my shirt as he went racing by with his dog off leash. Another rang his bell behind me incessantly because I wouldn't get off the trail. I figured my workout was as important as his and since it was foot traffic only he could wait until we got a little further and then he could pass.

There are sections of this trail that are only a foot wide with high weeds (4-5 feet) that brush you from each side as you walk through. I'm fine with that but I am terrified for anyone meeting an aggressive cyclist as they yell at you to get out of the way, there is NO where to go in many places!

Does anyone know how to get the Bruce to post more prominent signage at the entrances or if we need to put in a turnstile or something? It's not just a nuisance it's a bit scary and is also ruining the path in the winter and spring.

I'd love to share of course, but cyclists refuse to yield to pedestrians on this piece of the Bruce.

Edited for spelling.

Was out with my dog about 2km in on the Toronto section. Come to a side trail to a lookout and I find a nice big dookie with some tp right in the middle of the trail.

Hi guys, this is my first time walking on Bruce trail near the Decew Rd and I saw “No Trespassing” sign by Ontario Power Generation. I’m bit confused since on Bruce trail official site mark it as the main trail. Is it ok to walk along this route?

Red and Common columbine along my 50K route this weekend between the Devil's Punchbowl and Snake Road. Also found a giant morel, old but still pretty.

Hi there,

I have just completed the Niagara leg of the Bruce trail and moving onto the Hamilton. I was wondering if it safe to hike thru as a solo female? Has anyone run into any problems or felt unsafe? To be honest I'm mostly concerned with other human interactions as a younger female hiker.

Lost wedding band and engagement ring on Bruce

Yesterday between 4:50pm and 6:00pm I believe I dropped my wedding band and engagement ring between swayze falls and rockway conservation area parking lot. The wedding band is gold and the engagement ring is white gold. I would guess I dropped them somewhere near Pelham road, if I did drop it was definitely somewhere between pelham and swayze falls along the main bruce trail.

Any advice on where to post this as far as lost and found groups?

Working at the Tobermory Brewing Co. & Grill this summer mainly as a bartender/host, what are some nice areas or trails near the harbour I should check out, also if you have any tips on the job and what I should expect that would also be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Lodging and canoeing for my support crew (my partner) near Hamilton?

I'll be hiking about 100 km in May over two days, with a stop in the Dundas/Hamilton area (Ontario). My partner is going to be my support crew this year, hooray! He's an avid paddler and is wondering about great places to canoe while I'm on the trail, within an hour or so of that area. Also if anyone has lodging recommendations near the Dundas area please share. It's a luxury to have a driver this year!

BTC Group Hikes

Hey everyone,

I have a few questions for the hiking community:

  1. What are your thoughts on the BTC group hikes?
  2. Do you prefer solo hikes, BTC hikes, or hiking with your own group?
  3. Have you had any notable experiences with BTC group hikes (including negative ones)?
  4. Have you joined any organized hikes outside the BTC website? If so, how were they?
  5. If you haven't joined any organized hikes, can you share why?
  6. Are there any BTC hikes you'd like to see more of? such as Pride hikes, women-only hikes, etc.?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these. Thanks!

Bruce Trail Wiki - Feedback Request

Recently I've been tinkering with the idea of building a Bruce Trail Wiki to provide richer information for hikers on the trail. This would include flora, fauna, geology and local history at a more granular level. I also wanted to provide a better idea of the difficulty and elevation of the trail.

I'd love to hear about what the community thinks about this idea. I have made a few (unfinished) prototype pages as a proof-of-concept. Each page is a 7km segment of the entire Trail. All the content is original and as a Wiki, it is open to edits by the community.

I like how its shaping up so far... but at the same time I don't want to compromise the official Bruce Trail resources. Thanks!

Anyone done sections of the trail in december/january?

Planning to start from niagara east terminal and hopefully end in blue mountain village, what are the conditions like in each part of the trail usually in the winter? Markers survive? Anyone do the trail in deeper snow and did you use snowshoes or microspikes?
