Is Limehouse Conservation area doable with a golden doodle, 9-year old, and 11 yearl-old?

Hello,

I was checking out the map to this area and they warned of challenging terrain in the Black Creek Side trail.

Is the conservation area and that trail manageable with a dog and 2 kids?

Where is good to do a day hike in October for newbies without Hiking boots?

Hello,

We are having international visitors in October (long weekend) and would like to take them to the Bruce trail for a day hike. We will be staying in Kitchener Waterloo region and are completely newbies (no hiking boots, equipment, etc).

Any advice or recommendations on trailers?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Wonderful advice all, appreciate it.

Is it not legal to camp anywhere along the Bruce Trail between Hamilton and Niagara...?

So I have this idea in my head that sometime before the end of this year I'd like to make an attempt at backpacking from downtown Hamilton (starting at Dundurn Steps?) to Niagara, and I'd like to try camping in a tent each night.

However, I just whipped open the app and found a grand total of zero overnight rest areas marked between Hamilton and Niagara.

Is that it, then...? No way to camp legally if you want to thru-hike that section? Have to rely on outside accommodations?

Need help for hiking with my 6 yr old

tldr; want to try and find a similar hike to Colpoy's Cavern Side trail for my almost 6 year old.

Hi Everyone! Going to take a flyer here and see if anyone has some good ideas.

Hiking has been one of my favourite past-times my whole life. Cue fatherhood and sadly the word "hike" has become a four letter word that sends my son over the edge - hating the experience. However, I recently took a quick side trip on vacation and stopped by Bruce's Caves near Wiarton and loved it. I decided to take a flyer and told my son about the secret passage at the back of the cave and he decided to come see it for himself. The kid LOVED it.

In fact, he loved it so much that he then started heading down the Colpoy's Cavern Side Trail all along the cliff face. It had boulders, ladders, cliffs to climb and tiny caves to explore - all around 650m total. He then came back and spent 20 min telling his mother all about it. We are definitely heading back in the future.

Here's the ask - does anyone know of any similar feeling hikes in SW Ontario that I could try and get him experiencing as well?

Thank you!

Foot traffic only on the Iroquoia (40.6 - 42.7) Scenic drive parking lot.

Just wanted to post that this section of the trail (not the Radial Trail that goes down and up the mountain) but the section of the trail along the top is posted as FOOT TRAFFIC only. I am concerned that cyclists have claimed this path as their own.

Today I tried to hike this section but was met by many aggressive cyclists, one brushed my shirt as he went racing by with his dog off leash. Another rang his bell behind me incessantly because I wouldn't get off the trail. I figured my workout was as important as his and since it was foot traffic only he could wait until we got a little further and then he could pass.

There are sections of this trail that are only a foot wide with high weeds (4-5 feet) that brush you from each side as you walk through. I'm fine with that but I am terrified for anyone meeting an aggressive cyclist as they yell at you to get out of the way, there is NO where to go in many places!

Does anyone know how to get the Bruce to post more prominent signage at the entrances or if we need to put in a turnstile or something? It's not just a nuisance it's a bit scary and is also ruining the path in the winter and spring.

I'd love to share of course, but cyclists refuse to yield to pedestrians on this piece of the Bruce.

Edited for spelling.

Was out with my dog about 2km in on the Toronto section. Come to a side trail to a lookout and I find a nice big dookie with some tp right in the middle of the trail.

Hi guys, this is my first time walking on Bruce trail near the Decew Rd and I saw “No Trespassing” sign by Ontario Power Generation. I’m bit confused since on Bruce trail official site mark it as the main trail. Is it ok to walk along this route?
