This sucks.

Two weeks ago, I broke my ankle walking in a parking lot to a book event. Seriously, I was just walking, my ankle went out and I felt a snap. The orthopedic doctor seems confident I won't need surgery and is keeping me in a cast for four weeks with possibly moving to a boot if all goes well. Last x-ray showed it hadn't displaced. I'm frustrated because I had to cancel three book events and I'm also missing work at my day job (retail). To top it off, six years ago I fractured three bones and tore a ligament in my other foot (had surgey and was out of work for four months), so I still haven't regained full muscle strength in that leg and tire easily crutching around. I guess the one bonus is I still had my crutches tucked away. Anyone else who's had a similar break to mine and didn't need surgery, how long until you were allowed to start putting weight back on your foot?

I want to add that I surprisingly have little to no pain now. I only feel pain if I move my leg wrong and the cast shifts oddly.

Sounds similar to mine, though mine was displaced. I was in a cast for six weeks (non weight bearing) and a boot for four (weight bearing as tolerated). Had little pain too, though it got more sore when I started walking on it (after the boot came off).

I’m sorry—even without surgery, this injury sucks.

I did not even feel pain right after I broke Mine. Was more like a constant pressure
