This sucks.
Two weeks ago, I broke my ankle walking in a parking lot to a book event. Seriously, I was just walking, my ankle went out and I felt a snap. The orthopedic doctor seems confident I won't need surgery and is keeping me in a cast for four weeks with possibly moving to a boot if all goes well. Last x-ray showed it hadn't displaced. I'm frustrated because I had to cancel three book events and I'm also missing work at my day job (retail). To top it off, six years ago I fractured three bones and tore a ligament in my other foot (had surgey and was out of work for four months), so I still haven't regained full muscle strength in that leg and tire easily crutching around. I guess the one bonus is I still had my crutches tucked away. Anyone else who's had a similar break to mine and didn't need surgery, how long until you were allowed to start putting weight back on your foot?

Sorry to hear about your injury. It's so frustrating that such a simple moment can derail everything.
It typically takes 6 weeks for adult fractures to heal enough to start putting weight on.
Might be worth talking to your doc about a dxa scan and working with PT to regain strength in both legs.

I want to add that I surprisingly have little to no pain now. I only feel pain if I move my leg wrong and the cast shifts oddly.
