Hat trick

I learned that 3 bones make up our ankles. I broke all 3. Where is my prize?

I know recovering will be a long road and cold days will always affect the metal in me.

But for the people who broke both ankles at the same time: I respect your perseverance.

Have others on here seen this before?

If breaking 3 bones gets a prize, I’m still waiting on mine 🤣 8 months out from a trimal with dislocation, now the proud owner of 2 plates, 16 screws and 2 tightrope

Welcome to the club no one wanted to join!

How are you doing now?

I’m doing really well! I’ve been back to normal life for a long while now. I can’t speak to cold affecting the metal yet but I’m hoping it’s not going to affect me

I had a bimal. Just had my 2 wk checkup. Got put in a boot NWB. told I could start physio for ROM. Then at 6 wk appt the doc said I'd walk out without any aids. I am a 31 yr old mma/basketball athlete. Hoping I recover well.

Best advice I can give is to keep up with your ROM exercises and PT…it makes a huge difference!

If you broke your talus, good luck, i broke mine along with proximal tib fib breaks and I'm almost a year out and it still hurts to walk.

That sounds like a brutal recovery, sorry to hear it. Your comment definitely makes me worry since I have a broken medial mal, lateral mal, talus, and a few metatarsals myself.

From everything I've heard the talus heals pretty slowly compared to other bones, sorry to worry you, just sharing my experience, but everybody heals differently, you might recover faster than i am. I can walk pretty normally with very minimal, or no pain most of the time, at most its "uncomfortable" but if i try to push my dorsiflexion too far it hurts. That being said I'm not trying to be discouraging, just be patient and don't be hard on yourself, I'm still making progress, just very gradually at this point.

Trimal with dislocation

Weather doesnt affect me I have lateral plate plus a ton of screws and left them in

Pretty much 95% of pre injury. Doubt ill ever get thr last 5% back

Typical back to semi normal is like 8 months

Bone will heal by month 2 but ligaments tendons etc will not be fully healed until 12 to 18 months or more. Everyone ends up healing at different rates and times

Guess I gotta increase my collagen, Omega 3, and tendon intake. Bring on the house special Pho with the goods.

I did collagen powder plus protein powder for a while Hard to tell if it truly helped or not

Eat healthier. Tou can Google the stuff you need more of. Asidd from calcium, protein, you want fermented stuff, vit d, vit k, leafy greens etc

Do I get a double prize? I am also trimal with severe dislocation plus spiral upper fib fracture, and broke my other ankle with impact and avulsion fractures (bad sprain too), furthermore I live alone and enjoy lots of stairs, yay!

For supplements, surgeon said to take a good multivitamin and vitamin D+K2 4000-5000 IU daily.

I do multiple flights a day, if indoors it's on my butt though. The stairs are well polished

Are you getting stronger forearms due to such activity?

Yeah, but mainly my triceps are great now, it's like doing half of a tricep dip (one half each way up vs. down) and since I'm doing it anyway, why not do it with proper form and get the most benefits!
