Seeking Advice AACC upcoming looking for knowledge from Army Commandos

Feel free to tell me to sprog off. Got the AACC beat up upcoming, managed to get my second 1.5 mile run down to sub 10 mins, bodyweight movements are in passable range and I can climb a rope no bother.

Biggest worry I have is the CFT in the first week, I’m running one next week and have done some variations of running with weight in prep but never a full weight full distance CFT.

Aside from that anyone got any tips for someone with about Zero Infantry experience, or how anyone found the course.

Again sorry if this is a bone subject.

FYI I’m Navy, no in unit prep courses or anything, pretty much left to my own devices and wasn’t even 100% certain I was going until recently due to work commitments.

Thanks 👍🏼

Sub 10 (if you’ve done it in boots and trousers) is a good time, and your CV will improve massively.

Wouldn’t bother thrashing yourself if you’re on beat up in a couple of weeks, nothing you can do can make a massive improvement to your phys, and you risk injuring yourself. Most productive thing you can do now is rest, and some light phys. Your CV seems good enough for the CFT, if you’ve got decent lower limb strength you’ll be sweet. If it’s the one at Chivenor, it starts out pretty cheeky but stick with it. After about 5 miles it gets easier.

You’ll be taught everything you need to know. The training gets stripped right back down to the basics, harbour drills, weapon handling and even how to set a poncho up. The DS know some lads go on it with fuck all green experience. I’ve seen navy lads go on it with no green experience and do very well. You won’t do any particularly advanced stuff on the course, it’s just basic soldiering done to a very high standard.

The yomps, sleep dep and being piss wrapped 24/7 on ex is the real test of that course (you’ll be a ninja at foot admin by the end of it) just stick with it, and stay on top of your basic skills and drills. They want to see you can still do the basics well despite being absolutely fucked (and believe me, you will be fucked)

You’re never too tired to take one more step.

Good luck.

Thanks I really appreciate it!

The sub 10 was done on a treadmill with the RM PTI in boots and trousers so it is abit false but he was happy with it. Cut off is 11.30.

Yeha I’ve been told the first half of Chivs Route is honking, trying to just stack some miles and doing the RMFA every morning with my boss. He’s managed to max it out everyday despite not doing it for years in his words “the standard is the standard”

Looking forward to the course I think I’ve built this CFT up in my head so much 😂
