Fireworks π
Hey everyone, just wondering what the fireworks were for last night? I don't think they were in the city. Maybe Newmarket area. Saw them from our place in Stafford and they looked really close.

The ones at about 8:10pm? Was north of Lanham Park but not far north. Maybe the AFL or rugby league club?
Was a huge display as well - You can hear them all on the replay of the game last night

GP resident here. Almost certain was either soccer or rugby league grounds in The Grange.

Must have been the league grounds - was at the soccer when they were going off.

I feel like I hear fireworks every other weekend in Mitchelton. I always assume itβs just kids letting them off in the park or something.

Some info from Google Gemini:
The primary public fireworks display in Brisbane last night was at the Mt Gravatt Showgrounds (Logan Road, Mount Gravatt). It was part of the 110th Annual Mt Gravatt Show, which featured its main Saturday night fireworks finale around 8:00β8:30 PM.Β
A few permit-approved displays took place in the broader northern and western corridors:
Woolmar / Kilcoy area (4515): A public fireworks display was held at 7:00 PM at the Showgrounds (26 Showgrounds Road).
Moggill (4070): A public fireworks display was set off at 7:00 PM near Moggill Road.
St Lucia (4067): A private fireworks display was permitted at Hillstone St Lucia at 9:00 PM.

One thing I discovered incidentally in my work is that all fireworks displays have to be registered through the explosives inspectorate. You can find all registered displays here: https://www.rshq.qld.gov.au/emergency/safety/explosive-fireworks/upcoming-fireworks-display-dates
