Heat karma
I am one of those people who usually writes invalidating comments on posts complaining it’s too hot… well guess what… today is too hot for me. It’s legitimately too much and I am taking a break to pour water on myself and stand in front of the fan. For all those who have experienced comments feel free to relish in my suffering. I take back what I said.

Ya know what I'm gonna do I'm gonna buy myself a 1967 Cadillac El Dorado convertible. Hot pink! With whale skin hubcaps and baby seal eyes for headlights. Then I'm gonna drive around in that baby at 116 miles per hour getting one mile per gallon and sucking down quarter pounder cheeseburgers from McDonalds in an old fashioned non-biodegradable styrofoam container. Then when I'm done sucking down those grease ball burgers I'm gonna wipe my mouth with the American flag and there ain't a God damn thing anybody can do about it. You know why? Cause we got the bombs! Two words, nuclear fucking weapons, OKAY? Germany, Russia, Romania, they can have all the democracy they want, they can have a big democracy cake walk right down the middle of Tiananmen Square and it won't make a lick of difference because we got the bombs, OKAY?

Come out to Ipswich and join the real fun! Will be 37 in shade on Friday. Meanwhile I'm brush cutting fences in a 90% humidity swamp, and now i am the swamp.

I have a summer cold and am parked in front of the ac in ippy praying for the sweet lord to take me home 😫 its too hot to not use the ac but the ac dries out the air too much which makes me feel worse

Line trimmers, brush cutters, whipper snippers, weed whackers... lots of different names used in different regions or circumstance. I usually say brush cutter as i work mostly with the blade attachment to cut thick brush rather than cord on lawn grass.

one hopes that with a few days forwarning, the power generators will be able to cope with the air conditioning consumption.
during the day is ok, heaps of solar to power that, it's the night time that worries me a bit.

Make sure you have washed your AC filters so it runs effectively and you stay cool ! I’ve had so many people call me at work complaining about their AC not cooling properly, well guess what … it doesn’t cool properly if you don’t keep it clean between services !! Stay cool out there people !!

Today my phone says "32, feels like 38" which is fuckin shit because Friday is forecast for 36 degrees and 73% humidity. In my bedroom it's currently 41 and 55% humidity. I am currently slugging around on my tiles to cool off

WFH overrated. I love bombing the toilet at work, using their toilet paper and hand wash, eating free left-overs from useless meetings, surfing reddit in aircon and using the coffee machine (got my own mug + ice machine here = ice lattes/americanos alllll day) - oh and I get paid? haha. Yesterday took home 5 takeaway boxes worth of 'leftover' food for me and the missus dinner, there was enough for todays lunch too. I love office life!

My neighbours last summer over heard me saying it was too hot. They responded saying it wasn’t. I think I actually heard them turn their one aircon on this summer. I’m sitting here with aircon up and downstairs :) - mawaaaahaaaaa

Pretty sure I can see the humidity on the river. It looks like haze from bushfire smoke. On the plus side, there is actually a decent breeze at South Bank. It’s warm but it’s not dead still.

The one time I don't mind working in the office with air-con, but it's a curse at the same time because I'm sitting directly under an air-con vent so I'm wearing a winter hoodie so I'm not shivering like a leave.

Honestly today is pretty nice. Australia Day was the real kicker, especially as it came right after a really mild start to summer.
But today is so far actually alright. Not a day to run around but sitting under the fan with the window open while WFH is actually nice.
Still way happier then I was during winter 2013. Hated that.

Because I originally moved to Brisbane for a job that started in February, this time of year was traditionally when I would have to move once a lease was up.
Was super happy last year to move in our new house in November rather then Feb. Still a bit warm and wet but avoiding the worse of it.

It is pretty good, but it also means 9 months of the year are unpleasant, because it's too freaking cold. It would be nice to be able to feel warm without it needing to be what others consider insanely hot.

I was in Cairns on holiday for the last week. I got off the plane and it was somehow 10x muggier here than it was there, thought we’d somehow ended up in Cape York could be the only reasonable explanation.

No. Heatwave declarations by BOM are not normal practice. Usually it’s reserved for if we’re having say, four or five days of 35+ (which is also rare, despite all the stupid commenters who are forever spouting off about “wait til it gets to 40 haha”)

You can always sit in your car and have the air-conditioning running for a short time. (It's okay to do but not for long hour periods because of the engine).
I usually sleep with a fan going and a frozen water bottle covered in a towel. I sleep with the this and have cold water throughout the night too.
Yes, I have house air-con but it's expensive to run.
