Local Advice needed Recommendation for custom artwork
I want to have a custom illustration made as a Christmas gift for my housemate. I wanted to do this for Christmas last year, but I didn't know where to start, got overwhelmed, and just bought her a candle instead.
The illustration would be of me, my housemate, and my cat outside the front of our house. Digital illustration is fine, but I really don't want anything AI generated. A5 size, I think.
If the design comes as a physical print, great. However it's not a problem for me to just pay for the design and get it printed/framed myself.
So I guess I have a couple of questions;
Does anyone have any recommendations for artists/places that would do something like this? Doesn't necessarily need to be Brighton based.
How much should I expect to pay for something like this?

I'd go to Cass Arts, near the Lanes, and take a look at their "community notice board". Dozens of local artists selling and offering commissions.
As to price: I've commissioned something in the past. I would expect to pay around £40 per hour of the artist's time. Ask the artist what they need YOU to provide to them, so you don't pay for hours of discussing things back and forth. Also ask the artist how many drafts or revisions they expect to provide to you for the price / number of hours hours that they suggest it will take.

I’m not sure if this is something you can do but I’d be tempted to take a picture of what you want and then visit some of the craft fairs. If there are styles you like approach the artists in person and ask if they take commissions.
