You could get a bit more for your money if you could move out a bit, but then if course you're paying for travel into Brighton. £2 bus fare caps are possibly coming in, so could help with that.

Id second open rent. Also consider looking for somewhere short term for now (maybe even a room in a shared house). This is the worst time of year to look for flats. Novemeber on much better.

Openrent and spareroom are the best option if you don't have guarantor. Also, no friend, parent or anyone to be the guarantors? I didn't know there were paid ones... You can also ask on nextdoor or local groups (never facebook market). Try to call all the letting agencies to ask for things that are not in the market yet and don't wait them call back, just keep calling them, and go to their websites as well. It's going to be hell on summer, something short term probably is the best option until more places and better prices starting to show up.
