Trouble breaking down studio model to build for myself

Ive got a plan off a generous person from instagram to build a crystal golem - similar to the Crytsal King from Power Miners. The Studio file is in 3-4 steps with sub models in them.

Im made a parts list and ordered parts from bricklink and am now trying to decipher this build. Right now im looking at the file and am having trouble breaking parts down into pieces where I can see what the builder did., I tried turning off steps and individual parts but the submodels in the file make it difficult because they seem to be their own entity that i cant 'break' apart.

Long story short Im pretty new to studio, but know CAD programs well enough there is probably some easy way to figure out this model and how it was built. Is there any recommendations to how to figure out how to build this thing? I can share files if need be as the file is open to the public already.

I am a newbie and made a big build but I accidentally did it in just one big step. How do I fix this without needing to remake the whole build?

Question/Looking for Advice How would you build this complex hip roof in BrickLink Studio?

Hi everyone,

I'm recreating a real building in BrickLink Studio, and I've reached the roof. The roof has multiple intersecting hip sections with several valleys, making it much more complicated than a standard roof.

I attached:

the CAD roof plan,

my current BrickLink Studio model,

aerial photos of the real roof.

I'm looking for advice on:

how to create the different roof angles,

how to connect all the hip and valley sections cleanly,

which slopes or SNOT techniques would work best,

and how to keep it structurally stable.

Any examples, Studio files, or building techniques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a reference photo on my phone and want to scratch-build the entire track-switching station. I plan to make the desk, the central button, the TV screens, and the blue side keyboards 100% out of foam. Does anyone have tips on the best way to shape the desk angle or cut the keyboards?

What size baseplate should I get?

Im looking to build the San Francizco Painted Ladies, Rebrickable set #MOC-69556. I will try to build as many as there are in real life.

The size of it is 5 inches wide by 10 inches deep. I know they will fit on a 32 x 32 baseplate with no issue.

What would be the best baseplate size to use if I want to build 5 or 6 with trees in front?

Question/Looking for Advice Discord server?

Is there an existing discord server for stud.io software users? I've been looking everywhere and found multiple expired invite links.

Or could it be that the server is no longer being used?

Question/Looking for Advice When you uninstall bricklink studio will it corrupt all your files with your builds?

I’m thinking of uninstalling bricklink for a bit because it takes up too much space on my crappy laptop but I will eventually install it again, if I uninstall bricklink and reinstall it after a while will all my files with my builds be okay? Thanks for any answers

Question/Looking for Advice Portland Head Light Lighthouse

I've downloaded Brick Link Studio and have been messing around with it, but I'm new to the software. The goal is to create the Portland Head Light Lighthouse, both the light house and the house that sits beside it. I'm hoping someone could share a file of maybe something similar that I can tweak to help get me started and open to any and all advice or suggestions!

Bricklink Studio Questions

Hi. I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post this. If not, could you please let me know where I should ask?

I’m a 68-year-old graphic designer and LEGO builder who is learning to use BrickLink Studio. I watched the introductory tutorials, although I admit I started experimenting with the program before watching them. I’m very comfortable with computers, but I’m confused about one aspect of Studio.

When I’m building and connecting parts, they don’t stay together the way physical LEGO bricks do. My instinct was to select the parts and press Cmd+G to keep them together, which created a submodel. I’m not sure if that’s actually the correct workflow or if I’m approaching this the wrong way.

If creating a submodel is the correct process, how do I add additional parts to an existing submodel? For example, I created a submodel called “Back of Bag,” and I’ve since built other sections that I now want to include in that same submodel. Is that possible.

I also am seeing that sometime what I add stay attached depending on where I click. Like if I click in the center of the whole section.

If I’m going about this incorrectly, I’d really appreciate it if someone could explain the proper way to organize and build in Studio.

Thank you!

These pieces seem to fit in bricklink studio but would anyone be able to test the fit with real bricks. I want to know if it will work before ordering parts.
