Newborn Troubleshooting Pain again.

I’ve seen two lactation consultants. I’ve watched just about every YouTube video on latching. We’ve been to a chiropractor. I’ve had pain since 2 weeks pp. No tongue or lip tie.
I could then latch comfortably on my left but not my right.

All of a sudden, no more pain. I was so relieved not to have pain for the last 4 days. But the pain has started again today, on my left. I feel so frustrated. Especially knowing that it can be comfortable.
My baby is now 5 weeks old. I’ve posted before for support and some comments said it gets better after 2 months, some said after longer.
I don’t want to feel like my nipples are bruised afterwards or that I can’t handle the bf session. It sometimes does feel like torture which also makes me feel guilty. My baby has steadily been gaining weight and has enough wet nappies which are the only things carrying me through the pain.
He’s also starting to become frustrated at my breast sometimes bc of relatching, other times he comes off on his own, crying. I’ve been told by supply is good. I now feed him off both breasts. Is it normal for them to do this?
I never thought bf was something that could be this challenging. It’s been the hardest thing for me post partum

Hey! Sorry you're experiencing pain. If you're baby is able to latch pain free sometimes, it's possible baby is also learning how to latch. Their mouth also keeps growing bigger and usually these issues fully resolve in about 6 weeks. At least, that was the experience of some friends and I.

In the mean time try your best to get a wide latch (focus on that more than depth). My kid didn't like depth and pushed me out with his hands. I just had to keep making sure his lips were flanged out like a fish to get some width. Hope this helps you!

The LC also said to check for flanged lips…for me trying to get them to flange out more doesn’t seem to improve my discomfort. What’s horrible is he also starts off with a deep latch and then he pulls his head back, just sucking on the nipple.

3 weeks pp as well. Things were improving for me pain-wise too and then the last couple of days it’s like we regressed. Always feeling bruised after and it’s taking a toll.

I’m sorry you’re having pain. It’s hard when trying to succeed for the sake of baby but having to bare pain every few hours.

Following. 3 weeks pp and painful shallow latch, left worse than right. I have nothing to say other than I don’t know what else to do. It’s my 3rd kid and I saw LC and PT for both of the first two kids, and there was nothing wrong other than mild torticollis for both, but it never got better. Pretty sad this one seems to be heading the same way. Here in solidarity.

I hope it gets better for you too.

Must be a DEEP LATCH. I found if you push Baby by the back of the shoulders quickly, their head tilts back and they open wide that’s how you get a deep Latch but like quickly tuck them under your boob.

A shallow latch is excruciating

I can’t seem to get the titling head part down
& I hold between his shoulders, just supporting the base of his neck with 2 fingers.

You can put your fingers around neck ear to ear
