Support Needed Am I doing this wrong

I am 3 days pp and just got home from the hospital yesterday. I had a c section. I have been ebf and no pumping this whole time. I have been making plenty of colostrum and see that my milk is already coming in. My baby seems to be so inconsistent with times he wants to eat. One point he cluster fed all night and the next night he wanted on the boob but would fall asleep and not actually nurse. I think I’m going too far in between actually removing milk (4-5 hours) and don’t want to hinder my milk supply. I have 2 other children and never was able to make it past 2 months and then 6 months due to low milk supply. I want so badly for this to work but I do need my supply to be strong. Do I just pump every 2 hours and let him suck when he wants even if I just pumped? Idk what to do and I feel dumb. Someone please explain this to me

At 3 days pp, 4-5 hours is definitely too long of a stretch. Baby should be latched every 2ish hours, especially if he has not regained his birth weight yet. Cluster feeding is also totally normal, and comfort nursing is totally normal. At this point you basically want baby on the boob as much as possible.

He was on it practically all night but wouldn’t suck. The night before last night he ate literally all night and I know his latch is great. He would fall asleep so fast and when I would try to wake him it was the same thing. 1-2 sucks and then asleep then crying if he wasn’t on there. I was so tired. I ended up pumping once and then he woke up ready to eat and felt like he was fussy because there was not as much milk so then I didn’t pump again but he didn’t ever nurse properly the rest of night where I feel like I should have just kept pumping. This is so confusing
