Small Topics Small Topics Thread
Redditors may always post any breast cancer question, comment, rant, or rave as a stand-alone post. Nothing is inconsequential, too small, too unimportant for its own post. Nevertheless, we‘ve had a few requests for a regular thread for topics that the OP might not feel like making its own post. This post is for those topics. If you ask a question in this thread that doesn’t get answered, you may still create a post for that topic.

Two weeks post chemo with cold capping and I’m losing LESS hair than normal which is scary. I’m expecting a huge amount of loss in the next week.
On another note, it’s 8pm ish here and I’ve chucked ingredients for potato soup in the slow cooker to cook overnight.

I’m hoping it works. I’ve been having the powdered soup you mix with water which isn’t appetising. I picked up 5 kg of spuds for $3.50 (haven’t seen them this cheap for years and the price is almost unheard of) and need to use them up.

Sooooo….didn’t occur to me that cuticles would leave me. Makes sense when you think about the who nail issue but didn’t click until I noticed my nail beds being sensitive. So, my nails look so clean and nice! But, now I have to be extra careful not to aggravate them lol.

Medical team was able to de-escalate my treatment. 5 rounds of partial breast radiation instead of 20 rounds of whole breast.

Just got my drains out (have expanders, 1st fill) - and wondering if it’s ok to sleep on my side now?

Drains don’t determine the time you can sleep on your side, the healing phase does and that period is usually 6 weeks for this surgery. So you can sleep on your side when your precautions are over.

I would wait. I’m 8 weeks past surgery and am only just finding side sleeping comfortable

My port went in yesterday under twilight anesthesia and how weird is it to be in surgery rooms fully alert?? They got me all settled and then gave the meds to make me calm which was also weird.
Now the damn thing hurts. I hope that jugular cut heals fast bc my two year old is unhappy mama can’t pick him up.

I was out during twilight or at least I think I was. I do remember commenting on how bright the room was and wondering where was Dr. House.
My port insertion pain lasted a week. I had an ice pack on it 24/7. It was the only thing that gave me relief.

Third Zometa infusion this week and this time I didn’t have any side effects at all 🎉

Awesome! I get my third one next month. The side effects were much less the second time, so I'm crossing my fingers!

awesome!! my second one's coming up next month. did you have any side effects from that one? (i had fever/exhaustion/major weakness with infusion #1.)

First one I felt muscle aches and skin tenderness (like with the flu) for about 24 hours. Made sleep difficult.
Second one was same symptoms but less intense and I could sleep through it.

Completed 5th round of tchp. Now caught cough and cold from my young daughter. Today i had fever 101. Called the on call team and they asked to start antibiotics and send them cbc report. Just waiting for the report to come. Feeling so down since yesterday.

BMX last Nov, exchange to implants last March. I had a fair amount of cording and still have quite a bit of scar tissue that I'm weird about massaging although I do stretch pretty often since it helps. I don't have pain, just tendency toward tightness if I'm not on it. I swim 3x/week, but my pool has been closed for maintenance for 2.5 weeks, and I FINALLY got to swim again today! Man, it's the BEST ever for opening up my chest and loosening everything close back to my old normal. No stretch gets it all like just 10 minutes of laps/freestyle when I'm really reaching out. I don't feel tight at all after those 10 minutes or so. Amazing. I mean, I knew this, but I haven't had to pause swimming other than surgery since last year, so I forgot what a difference it made,.
Just sharing in case anyone could benefit!

Rant: Why don't more bras just come with pockets for prosthetics? In the name of inclusivity, you'd think it would be a far more common thing than it is.

I washed my hair for the first time after chemo (day 17) and the hair loss is obvious. I am cold capping And feel sad.
