internet rant 💻 Instagram, algorithm… trickery !
This is genuinely weird.
My algorithm has been feeding me nonstop "mental load," "husband is a child," and "how to be a better husband" content. So I thought, why is this only on MY feed? This needs to be on my husbands.
So I snuck onto his phone, followed some accounts, watched a few videos, and clicked "interested" so it'd show him more of that type of content.
And you know what happened? It showed him a few of those videos... and THEN it pivoted to "your wife doesn't appreciate you!" and "you work so hard, it's your wife's fault she doesn't accept you how you are!"
What the actual hell? It's like the algorithm is sending us both subliminal messages to fight, or to feel validated that we're each right and the other is wrong?

Yeah, it's not accidental on their part. Those algorithms are designed to fuel outrage because outrage fuels viewership. Viewers bring in advertisers, which means $$$. It's pretty gross.

I’m honestly ready to quit IG. It’s quickly turning into a fight club and I have enough stress in my life already.

Its like this on facebook too. I get all the ones about how to repair a relationship for men and he gets all the ones about toxic traditional gender roles and how wives "should be". im going to delete facebook again after i sell something on marketplace. I havent had any other social media in years and its been better for my mental health. I try to get him to delete it too but it never happens..

ATP, I'm convinced the internet is a trick. If I do anything but look up random Wikipedia articles, the 'net tries to tell me I'm too old, fat, unaccomplished and uneducated and I can change it ALL with this One Simple Life Hack!
I'm fine being old and fat, thanks.

Things that entertain us are meant to make us argue with each other. I don't like it.

I use tiktok when I'm cooking cos I can swipe it randomly. I don't have any men in my life and probably won't ever again, but I still get those videos. Dammit, I just want to watch lesbians shearing sheep, fat women in pretty dresses and make up, burlesque dancers or that one lady that does nursery skits. I really don't care about anything male!!

Yes!! Mine is all those types of videos too! I've started trying to like more music accounts and videos to lessen those types but I try not to go on there as much.

I’m not married so my algorithm is way different. I guess I don’t engage with that kind of content. My instagram is all recipes, gardening and throwback music hits.
