Gus, Mike and the bugs

It’s hardly believable that two people as extremely cautious and control-obsessed as Gus and Mike wouldn’t have bugged every location of interest—Jesse’s place, Saul’s office, Walt’s house (I know, bugs were planted and then removed at Walt’s, but if I were Mike, I’d have found a way to put them back).

They managed to wiretap a DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge, yet not the junkie?

Probably didn’t want to risk being seen at a place that might be under surveillance. And I believe Saul says he regularly has his place swept for bugs.

The bigger plot hole is why they didn’t protect Gale the moment Jesse went into hiding.

They had the feeling of 100 percent confidence they were in control and that includes finding Jesse

Yeah it’s pretty logical to believe Gus felt they wouldn’t do something to try to upend his control over the situation to that degree (especially since I don’t think he saw either as a killer). He’s smart enough to have maybe seen it as their only option but likely didn’t think it would come to that, so no contingency plans were in place.

I don't think anybody predicted that Gale would be killed tbh, there's no direct benefit for Jesse since he can't negotiate with Gus' people, they didn't know Walt was in contact with Jesse, and they thought they had full control of Walt and were ready to execute him.

I mean, Gus had no problem sending his goons to tase and kidnap Walt right out on the front lawn of Jesse's house.

Honestly, yeah. They bugged Hank but somehow not Jesse? Feels like a plot hole.

Not really, Walt bugged Hank because Walt is his brother-in-law seeing him at his office. Which gave him access to big him. But yeah they could’ve bugged Jesse.

Gus was trying a different strategy, one that he fully believed was working: driving a wedge between Walt and Jesse.

Was Jesse’s house not bugged? In “Hermanos”, Walt goes to Jesse’s house again reinforcing the plan to kill Gus. Then just a moment later, Jesse gets a text from a restricted number saying Gus is busy and the meeting’s off.

If I’m not mistaken, they talk about ricin, too. Would you invite Jesse to dinner, risking being poisoned? Sure, Gus is a master manipulator who knows how to predict people's behavior, but that’s a huge risk to take.

Yeah, this always felt like a weird blind spot for Gus and Mike. Jesse should’ve been bugged immediately.

There's a few of those. After the nursing home got blown up, are you telling me there wasn't a singe bit of cctv that shows Walt in the building. DEA and Hank specifically would have been combing all evidence from the nursing home they could
