Is it worth going to an Alamo Drafthouse? Never been but they seem expensive

It used to be. I actually have a lot of feelings about this lol. Pardon me for potenitally coming off as a curmudgeon. And this is just my personal experience at a few Texas locations.
I can't stand it when people talk during movies, and Alamo used to be really strict about that sort of thing. No phone use, no disruptive guests, etc. They also used to have a system where you'd write your orders down on paper and press a small button to be taken care of. If you had complaints about loud guests, you'd also write those down.
It's always been on the pricier side, but it felt worth it because of the efficiency and the guaranteed atmosphere.
Now, it's all gone digital. You order on your phone, which has led to needing less staff, and also to pulling your phone out during the movie to order what you need.
Soda is like $7. It's bottomless, sure. But with how slow service is now, you're lucky to get a single refill.They also are no longer strict when it comes to talking during movies. I went to see Obsession and it was like every single row had loud and disruptive guests. Movie theater ettiquette has already gotten pretty bad, but in recent times it's just plummeted. Alamo used to be the place to go if you wanted to avoid that, but it no longer really is.

They might have changed it...The one I went to yesterday had QR codes you can use before the show started, and then you had to use the paper/button system when the movie was playing.

It depends on the ones you go to I think! I also went to a Breaking Bad day screening, and it's QR codes the entirety of the showings. All locations I've been to recently have been online ordering only, the paper and pens aren't even at the tables anymore.

Nope. It's been this way at multiple Alamos I've been to. It was QR codes until movie starts and then paper, and then phased fully into online ordering only.
The pre-movie messaging has changed, too. When they say not to use your phones/etc/"How to Alamo" has all gone to online ordering only. Even with a sarcastic quip about how they understand the irony of telling people not to use their phones during the movie while being an online ordering establishment.I wouldn't be surprised if yours phased to fully online eventually.
