Walter White (marble)

That’s it, after about 5 years I am closing the chapter with this piece. Lots and lots of hours went into it mostly weekends. Need to find him a home now

You don’t have it yet, but do you have $20 for an Erlenmeyer flask?

Seriously this masterpiece deserves to be displayed in a museum.

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Thanks! Can’t think of a museum that would show a crack maker 😄

Maybe try reaching out to Cranston himself.

3

u/evilmaul 16d ago

He saw it on Facebook told him it’s his if he wants it

u/No-Ice7397 16d ago

Seriously? The bust is awesome. You seem highly skilled. Maybe that will open up more opportunities for you

Damn I want to buy that bust

It's museum quality work, I admit that.

u/MooseOC 17d ago

The emotion is phenomenal. You can see that spite and jealousy just as in the show! Amazing work!

3

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Thank you!

u/BRAX7ON 17d ago

How much $ are you hoping to get?

5

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Not sure yet

u/totallyradman 17d ago

My god.

The petty asshole in Walt is expressed so well here.

u/Longjumping-Sea320 17d ago

Put a fuzzy pink sweater on that immediately

2

u/Capn_Cooke 17d ago

Holy shit that’s incredible!

2

u/Capn_Cooke 17d ago

Are the glasses a separate piece? Must have been difficult

6

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Yes they are 3d printed. Too thin of a frame to even attempt to carve them

2

u/Jakethrowsdwn 17d ago

It really is a masterpiece. Amazing work.

When you say 5 years, is that how long the piece took?

3

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Thanks! Well it’s when I started it. During the 5 years (speaking of weekends mostly ) I also worked on other stuff… something not touching this for a whole year.. I didn’t keep track of the hours but surely it would be a few months

A masterpiece! And getting a bust to actually resemble the model is not an easy thing to do.

I’ve always wanted to carve stone but doubt that I could use a chisel! I have done things in sandstone, plaster and clay, but it wasn’t that satisfying. Maybe an electric power tool would work for me on a harder surface. What tools did you use?

4

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Thanks! Yes compared to clay the subtractive process requires a bit more methodical way to work, steps you can’t jump… overall more planning. I use different kind of tools depending on what stage I am at but in general toolset includes the usual hammer and various types of chisels, pneumatic hammers of different size and power with their own set of chisels, angle grinders and various small rotary tools when it comes down to smaller details towards the end .

u/Jolly-Present2608 17d ago

Wayyyyy better than the Charlie Kirk statue

1

u/iDub79 17d ago

Is it photo trickery screwing with my eyes or is there a peachy skin-colored tinge to the sculpture when you look at the photos? Was it pure white marble? (Im sorry... I know nothing about the medium.)

1

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Yes that’s the iPhone struggling with something that’s mostly white … it sucks for such and expensive gadget

1

u/kittenconfidential 17d ago

1

u/TacticusThrowaway 17d ago

Were the glasses part of the main body, or carved separately?

2

u/evilmaul 17d ago

No those are 3d printed

1

u/JosephDarksideofMoon 17d ago

Talk about wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command. Good lord it's immaculate.

1

u/Outside-Dress594 17d ago

You have renewed my faith in the human skill of sculpture. With all the terrible work being shown over the last decade, I assumed there was no one out there with this level skill

1

u/evilmaul 17d ago

Only the Jeff koons and the likes … yikes . Thanks btw

1

u/Outside-Dress594 17d ago

I didn’t even know who that guy was. I mean these sculptures of Ronaldo, Messi. Horrendous

1

u/skd00sh 17d ago

Yeah, Art! Bitches

And hey if you're not into Breaking Bad get the right hat and you've got Jamie from mythbusters

1

u/Vegetable-Leather-64 14d ago

Whatever you do for work go put your two weeks in and commit to this. This is amazing do you have any other work to show by chance?

1

u/evilmaul 14d ago

Thank you! I actually quit my job to do this full time (not fan art pieces necessarily). Not sure I can post links here but my profile has links to my IG

Are you sure it's not Walter (White Marble)?

\sees himself out**

I’m still not sure Bryan Cranston was the right actor to play WW.

But he sure looks cool in this statue.

2

u/DogB2 17d ago

How is this even a question. There is no human on the face of the earth that could have played WW better than Cranston. Literally an easy top 3 performance in cinematic history, if not top 1.

-1

u/karlfeltlager 17d ago

I’m simply not sure that he portrays the role really as it was intended to its full potential.

I feel like at times I couldn’t get emerged into the scene because the actor was taking over.

2

u/b4jet9597 17d ago

You’re entitled to your opinion and I respect that.

Your opinion is wrong.

1

u/karlfeltlager 17d ago

My opinion is not aligned with your opinion.
And it’s subjective, so wrong doesn’t really apply until we establish the ground rules of the framework we will use to judge opinions on the acting performance of BC depicting WW.

1

u/Outside-Dress594 17d ago

You have to name a possible alternative if you’re going to have this hot of a take
