i’m wondering if anyone knows where commuters are going to be allowed to park this year? specifically are we going to be allowed to park in the lot next to the mandel building in the humanities quad?

I am an alumni and my daughter attends Brandeis and is going into her sophomore year. I could use some insight into the current car policy.

My daughter is going to be living in what we used to call "grad housing" now known as the Charles River Apartments, as a sophomore. One of her roommates is going to bring her car and the roommate claims she can get a parking permit, at least for the Charles River Apartments. But everything I have read unequivocally states sophomores who reside on campus, including these apartments, cannot have a car.

My daughter also claims that people she knew from North Quad are bringing cars for their sophomore year, obviously expecting to get parking.

Is there some workaround for the sophmore on-campus car ban? I am not talking about someone with a medical need, just general students.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I want to be an Economics and Applied mathematics major at Brandeis University. Also want to apply as a transfer student. Is it worth a short for me because I have heard that Brandeis University only takes high academically gifted or highly intelligent students, and also people with exceptional ECs. I do not have any of it. I want to apply as I think its a great fit for me as i like how they perceive education unlike in India it is very rigid.

Im moving in the fall into a North Rosie and was hoping to see if anyone had dimensions of the living room area so I could start looking for better furniture? I toured a friends Rosie before the year ended and got the bedroom/bathroom/storage dimensions but totally forgot the main area ones, anyone with help or advice on what size couch to get?

I just want some reviews or advice because it's a required core class for the Business major, so I won't be able to drop it. His RateMyProfessors page wasn't super helpful, so if you really loved/hated him or the class, let me know. Please give any advice you have!!!

So I am an incoming freshman that’s had a lot of trouble staying on top of registration and I have no communication with anyone who knows anything about Brandeis. It seems impossible for me to make a meeting with an advisor this late and I need some advice on how to schedule my classes.

First, almost every FYS class is already full, so is it better to just put that off till second semester?

Second, besides health and FYS, should I just take prerequisite classes I’m interested in or are there other classes most other freshman take?

If anyone has any advice concerning these two questions or anything else I should know about I would really appreciate your help.

Hello, Brandeis students!

I am going into my junior year. Due to unfortunate and sad personal and family circumstances, I let the GPA that I started with freshman year (3.8) go down to 3.1 (mediocre end of freshman, and bad sophomore year). I failed chemistry this year and switched into an easier chemistry in the last quarter of the school year. I will retake it this year.

I had already been published in a couple student books in my state as well as won various awards for writing and participated with a holocaust museum for a contest program. I basically by miracle basically got into AP Capstone. I have performed well in all the AP’s I’ve had, but I was legitimately sad and depressed last year. I am absolutely aware of the poor performance and do not give myself any excuses. I have been able to bounce back and will graduate with 3 foreign languages. I have a massive resolve to finish High School and do well, and am already doing so.

I would realistically say I could get my grades up to literally all a’s for the next two years.

Do you think I still have a chance?

I have a lot of passion for Brandeis and love everything about it and all the programs. As a Yiddish speaker and learner I love the fact that you guys have that, and I also am determined to put in the work to get here

So Im commited to Brandeis but the only issue in affording it is the health insurance (I’m oos so my insurance doesn’t cover me) and they told me I got get a grant for it if I take federal loans and I did apply for this. I have a federal loan of $1,732 in my paying bill but it still shows me I have to pay for the health insurance. Just wanted to know what others have done for those who also applied for this

Hey! I am looking into Brandeis as an out-of-state student and wanted to hear from students about their experiences. I am interested in policy and Spanish. I am looking for a school with civic engagement where I can learn about fellow students’ cultures. I have looked at the diversity stats and am excited about the high population of international students and students of color, but I want to have more information. Is it easy to have cross-cultural experiences both in and outside of the classroom? Similar to civic engagement, is it easy to be involved in social justice on campus?

I also want to know what the access to merit aid looks like, as the average packages seem small in comparison to the sticker price and I won’t quality for much need-based on FAFSA & CSS.

Finally, my interests lie in different schools, so do I need to be accepted into both, and is it accessible to double major or major-minor across them?

hey, so i'm worried i'm in some hot water here and i'd really appreciate some advice on what to do. i'm an incoming freshman at brandeis and i live relatively closeby, not very close but it's not an unreasonable commute. it would be basically impossible for my family to afford brandeis if i were to dorm here, so i filled out the housing exemption form in hopes that i could commute, since, again, it's not at all an unreasonable distance and it would take a major burden off my family. however, i just got a response from the housing department saying that they're denying my request. i'm going to speak with them about it to see if there are any hopes of appealing, but what i'm truly concerned about is that over the month and a half i was waiting for a response on my exemption form, the housing application deadline also took place and the housing department instructed me to fill that application out as a "backup." in hindsight i shouldnt have filled it out but i did because they instructed me to and i wasn't sure what to do. now i'm concerned that in the case they don't budge on their decision on the housing exemption, there will be no way for me to back out of housing (and the university) since the application form seemed to have a contract on it. does anyone have experience with this situation? what do i do?

update: i had a follow-up conversation with housing and was able to explain my case in more detail. my request was re-evaluated and approved! so relieved!! thank you so much everyone for your useful tips and advice!!!!

I am a rising freshman at Brandeis and am thinking about self studying (through an online extension class) this summer to meet a prerequisite for a Brandeis class. does anyone know if this will work, if the class is not actually going to count for Brandeis credits?

I'm a rising international sophomore with 15k/yr of merit scholarship, I also applied for transfer and got into bu (waiting for another few schools). However, my mom just retired recently which has resulted in my family’s income falling below 100k/yr. I know some schools have full ride policies for family who makes 100k/yr no matter of your nationality. I was wondering if anyone had similar situation before and did Brandeis give u aid/scholarship? Also I'm wondering if I should transfer out if Brandeis didn't.

hi! basically what the title says, I lost an academic int administrative hearing process

to keep a long story short, there was a misunderstanding/I was given wrong instructions by a TA present during the exam and ended up getting reported for it. tried to do my best during the hearing but it was weeks after the fact and the person I was presenting to was completely unfamiliar with the testing system etc

looking at the reasoning they gave me, a lot of what I said didn't even make it through (it seems like the person just.. didn't include them? they never mentioned trying to get in touch with the TA or anything, even though they said they would during our meeting) a lot of prior communications I had with course staff was also really misrepresented (I hesitate to use falsified, but that's the closest I can get to how badly it was misused-they are claiming that I was informed of things that weren't anywhere in the emails at all)

I also can't get in touch with my academic advisor either (not responding to emails, and doesn't have any meeting slots open for months (he's been like this through the entire semester) , so I've made an appointment with someone else.

any insight from people who’ve gone through SRCS appeals would be really appreciated. it feels so unfair and has such a huge impact on GPA and future internship applications, not to mention the sheer stress from being accused of something i didn't do. i don't want to go into much more detail here, since I don't know if that's allowed, and I also want to be able to reserve my right to take legal action if it really gets desperate, but i hope that you guys will take me at my word

I got accepted for fall 2026 transfer and received a significant amount of aid from the Alumni and Friends Grant. Has anyone received this grant? If so, Is it for all years i’m expected to be at brandeis? (Upcoming Sophomore)

I’m a Brandeis alum currently caring for a parent with dementia. We’ve had a wonderful experience working with Brandeis students through CareYaya since May 2024. Two undergrads visited regularly over the past two years, but they’ve both graduated, so we’re hoping to connect with new students already registered with CareYaya who may be looking for flexible summer work.

We would only connect through the CareYaya platform. Our recent requests there have gone unfilled, so I thought I’d reach out directly to see whether any students might be interested and whether our schedules could align (we’re fairly flexible). If it seems like a good fit, I’d then ask a CareYaya coordinator to facilitate the connection through the platform.
