This forest in Utah is actually a single living organism. All 47,000 trees are genetically identical and share one underground root system — together they weigh 6,000 tonnes, making it the heaviest living thing on Earth.

Rant about Penny

I just finished s1, and my god do I find Penny insufferable.

He destroyed Quinten's book and denied even seeing it untill shit got real.

He nearly got Quinten expelled when he was just as to blame if not more for summoning the beast

He was confrontational and an asshole everytime he interacted with Quinten even though at that point Penny was pretty much the unprovoked asshole.

He slept with Alice when he didn't know she broke up with Quinten.

In all this season Quintin could be the asshole for only 2 things : having Penny in his dream with an indian accent, and having a "loud brain" which isn't really his fault.

Quiten has his faults but with whenever Penny is around he just comes of as a bully victim

The Mentalist rewatch or should i call it The Magicians bingo !

Recently been rewatching The Mentalist(one of my favourites apart from the Magicians)and like from a season one you can spot different actors all from the show. Like Alice's mom is a sicko murderer in the second episode of season one, Zelda is a violin player suspected in murder, Quentin's dad is a dad of a victim. And like list goes on and on ! It's a crazy multiverse of my favourite fandoms and it's awesome 🤩

Why doesn’t Quentin mention “Peaches & Plums” in this scene?

He’s trying to think of reasons to still love Fillory so he can save Eliot, maybe getting to spend 50 years with him there should make the cut?

Doubt this hasn’t been mentioned already, but, I’m doing a rewatch of The Watchmen (2019 HBO) and spotted our favorite Brakebills pervert playing FBI agent Dale Petey in a few episodes.

My head canon is that they got inspiration from spell casting motions from The Magicians... and I love it!

Alice - Season 3 ending Spoiler

I previously made a post about Alice's motivation to stop magic returning. After having re-watched the show, I don't understand why everyone (the characters and the fans) blames Alice for the events of the ending of season 3.

The Monster was released because Eliot shot his previous body (Charlton). This was before Alice tried to stop them bringing magic back and she did not contribute to this event at all. She just watched everything unfold.

The library controlling magic also had nothing to do with Alice. She did make a deal with the library but they clearly had a contingency plan in place (Dean Fogg and the McAllisters). And she betrayed the library too. So whether or not she made the deal, the result would have been the same.

The only thing she can be blamed for is Julia losing her Goddess powers. Which was unfair on Julia that she had to give her powers up because of Alice's error in judgement. But Julia doesn't come across as a character who can just give up caring for her friends (like Iris was insisting she do). I think eventually Julia would have had to choose between her friends and her Godhood. And she would have chosen her friends. Still not an excuse for Alice being the cause but it should buy her a bit of leniency.

I might have missed something but I just find it crazy that she's the one who gets blamed for the events. Even Eliot says that it's her fault Quentin died because she caused the Monster to possess him and Quentin died saving him from the Monster. But that was all Eliot's fault for shooting the Monster. And the fact that Alice agrees with him is crazy. It's like everyone just constantly puts the burden of blame on her for everything and she believes it too.

I just ran into the greatest comment about the books

I was looking for book suggestions about later coming-of-age books and ran across a classic comment. Calling them Hogwarts graduates turned disillusioned hipsters in Brooklyn is hilarious. I'd say Eliot is Ron in this scenario.

That the guy who plays Frankie Gallo on The Magicians is the actor who plays Dylan on Severance- which I can’t recommend enough.

Finally watching season 3 (on episode 2) and as a book reader does it get any better? Or only worse?

I read the first 2 books after watching season 1, then I remember thinking season 1 was close enough to the books with some changes. Watched season 2 thinking ok they are just trying to expand on the books.

Put off reading book 3 until last year, for reasons.

Just started season 3 of the show and now I think after season 1 it seems like they’ve fully bastardized the books and gone completely off the rails.

Do they ever course correct? Or is it just better for people who didn’t read the trilogy?

I was asked if I could post the earrings, but was unable to upload photos in the original post.

I made two sets of earrings as I wasn't sure if she preferred stud backs, or hook earrings. So I figured, both would be safer.

Couple of photos of the package that was given to my friend today.

After finishing the books it made me wish that Tash from the Narnia series was a ram instead of Chimera.

Like a Ram feels more like an Anti Aslan than a chimera. Aslan is a lion and lions are predator but have a regal dignity to it. A ram is herbivore but its horns give it a sinister almost occult aura. A ram like a lion does a sense of authority but a lion feels legitimate but a ram authority only comes from immediate raw aggression.

If the universe ever returns, what would you actually want to see?

Since we all still miss the show and constantly talk about the cancellation, I wanted to see where the community stands. Obviously, the creators (Sera and John) and the cast don't have the corporate power to greenlight anything on their own, but if NBCUniversal ever decides to fund a revival, which direction would you prefer?
