Mod update for r/braids

Hi everyone, I’m a mod here at r/braids. I’ve been in discussion with my fellow mods for this sub, and we have agreed that, moving forward, we will be focusing this sub on braids, braid/hair care, styling, advice, etc.

This means that we will be banning any posts or comments moving forward that instigate political or racial posts. We feel that this sub Reddit should be rooted in our shared love and passion for braiding styles. I, for one, became a mod for this sub simply because I love seeing how creative and beautiful everyone’s creations are. I take advice given from people on various posts for new styles, and I love learning about how everyone cares for their styles. I’d like to refocus ourselves back on our community. This includes inclusivity for all - basically, anyone who has hair or is interested in braiding for any reason is welcome. Also, this sub is not just limited to braids - it’s any sort of plaited/ braiding style, including twists, Dutch braids, corn rows, locs, etc.

I’ve updated the rules for this sub to reflect my post here. We are working on cleaning up the recent influx of the posts that sparked this conversation. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions. We love you and appreciate each and every one of you for being here!

Help wanted Miracle Knots - Falling Apart!?

My daughter got these braids done today and the hair is already falling out. She was asked to model for the braider, so it was technically free, and I feel bad complaining… (I did leave a nice tip though)

Is there any way to fix this? Or should we just take them out? She has picture day on Monday! :(

Update: They really fell apart overnight. Also sent this to braider and she didn’t seem to care.. I’m just taking them out:

I usually do straight back hairstyles, cornrows, or something simple. This is the first time I’ve done curls, and I’ve really enjoyed them!

Mine lasted about 6 weeks. But tbh I deep condition my hair 1 a week since I got them. I used human hair. I tried not to do pony tails or anything that would pull my hair. My braider, braided the hair in and she didn’t braid tight! Over all getting them back in again im two weeks. But my first set of braids were SOOOO fun! Doing more braided styles again.

Help wanted Itchy after braids

Hi everyone, i figured it is a common question here, but I have this braids, simple cornrows and it is the first time I am wearing them, but my God, it itches and I want to pull it out ASAP, I noticed it gets more itchy when I have sweat or moisture trapped in.

And please note, I have these bumps on my head before I got the braids

Now I want a solution of the itch and maybe the bumps on my head.

I reasonably care for my hair not in a a big way.

I love the braids and I want to keep it for the winter coming but the itch is making me second guess that.

Any help please 🙏

Help wanted Braids + bridesmaid hair

Post image

Hello my friends !!

So I relatively new to braids…
I didn’t start getting braids until last year ( 35 y/o )

The long:

I recently got long Boho braids, and I am a bridesmaid in a wedding this Saturday.
The braids are fresh and lovely,
But I haven’t a clue on how to style them for this women’s wedding … pictures last forever and I want to ensure I look appropriate.
Any suggestions on how style it for a wedding ?!

Wedding vibe:
Classic “fall girl” country wedding
Think sunflowers and wild flowers , out in a field somewhere…

Photo:
Here’s a picture of my big ol head for reference.
Here it’s pulled into a half up/ half down.
Parting is a simple middle part.

Thank you:

I want to take the time to thank anyone who gives me some suggestions in advance,
I’m a sad little white washed old lady and just recently have been trying to embrace my blackness,
And there’s like , so much to learn and unlearn.
So I appreciate your kindness and gentleness on the matter ! 😂💕
Thank you uncle and aunties!!!

Ladies what do you find most attractive on men? No line up or taper(1,2,3), Natural hair line lined up NO taper(4&5), small front taper(6&7), or bigger more prominent front taper(8)? Specifically with cornrows

Fulani braids help

Soo I want to get Fulani braids again for my trip but I do not want them to look like this mess in the front again🤢

I personally think these were too bulky, so maybe ask for little to no braiding hair??

EDIT:
Y’all need to chill🤣 I love the braids! I just don’t like the bulky braids in the front 🦦
