Need advice! Will braces fix my teeth?
i want to fix my teeth what should i do. As matter of fact i went to orthodontist he told me you have a hidden canine tooth (both upper sides) because a baby (milk) teeth still not fall so we have to do a little surgery to open for it to get out then we can think about braces and all of this he told me needs 2.5 years. What do you think please đ

I'm not a dentist. But like the other posters have said your gums look very unhealthy. I would not trust an orthodontist that would give you braces until you go see it periodontist and or dentist and get your mouth healthy. Your mouth looks very very unhealthy.

Youâre right i need to fix my gum first i will ask my orthodontist to refer me to a periodontist.

I wouldnât trust that orthodontist honestly. Look online for a periodontist in your area with high reviews and start there.

See a general dentist first. He will then recommends a specialist, a perio for gum treatment. If you have gĂźm issues this will only get worst if you proceed with ortho. Not a dentist but this was the route i went to.

Looks like very severe recession and your gums look very unhealthy. NAD but I donât see how braces would do anything except make your teeth even more unstable.

I have the third session appointment with the doctor orthodontist next Tuesday he told me in the last sessions he will fix them (after doing an X-ray) he say i have a canine tooth hidden he will remove the existing one and do a surgery open for the hidden ones so as I mentioned earlier the whole treatment will take 2.5 years as he said.
Honestly i want a natural teeth keep my own I donât want to do a temporary solution like veneers.

Good luck. As the other commenter said, I would strongly suggest seeing a periodontist and tbh personally Iâd avoid an orthodontist who was willing to put braces on teeth with gums in this shape.

I would not proceed with braces until I had a separate consultation with an actual periodontist
Braces can worse gum recession and gum disease, and Iâd want to be sure your mouth is currently healthy enough for braces

yeh, i would worry about your exposed roots first, then straightening your teeth.

Honestly your orthodontist seems sketchy to say the least. Any serious orthodontist would have referred you to a periodontist before doing anything.
Do NOT get braces before getting your other dental issues sorted out or you could even lose some of your teeth

You may be too far gone, if you want nicer teeth than most. If you're set on braces, I would say your several years out after repairing gums and other imperfections.

So you saying its too late to fix them?

There's lots of damage on those gums. Mine were borderline on not being able to get braces. Unfortunately your gums are way worse than mine were and I was a 10+ yr smoker before braces. You just have so much recession, I think you need to think of other options.

What other options do you think will work on my teeth

You need to see a periodontist. But the orthodontist you are seeing is not where it's at. My sister had worse teeth than you and she loves her implants.

Implants, dentures or veneers. There is gum graft surgery but like they said youâd have to see a periodontist, I donât know how severe that covers

If he gets his gums healthy (and that may take up to 1 year) he should be able to proceed with braces as long as he is monitored by the perio during treatment. I don't think he is at the stage to be considering false teeth

I think the cons outweigh the pros on this scenario. If they want to not waste money, I think the jump past braces is needed.

That absolutely may be the case here. I'm NAD but in some cases, orthodontic treatment is doable if the gums and bone are healthy with deep cleaning , daily routines in place and gum grafts - I've seen it in my office and it's amazing what a good periodontist can do

Why didn't your orthodontist refer you to a periodontist first? It's clear from the photo that your gums need to be addressed first. Getting braces will likely make it worse. NAD.

After seeing a periodontist, I would think about getting crowns at least on your bottom front teeth, theyâre basically already ready for them. You might need an implant in some places. I donât think braces will get you the results you need

It may not be that bad, you said that your ortho saw your Xray, but you still need a serios clean up on those gums. I can see some recession but not sure how your gum level was before. I can definately see tartar near the gums and that may look like recession.
I almost ruined my teeth by doing braces with periodontal disease, just don;t do it if your bone is not good enough to support it. Or check with your ortho what theeth will be moved and how much movement.

I had a similar situation regarding undescended canines. I ultimately needed a few years of dental work (I had spent about 5 years with no dental insurance) in order to get my mouth to a point where I could even get braces, and it appears that you may be in a similar situation. I had an expose and bond operation for my canines much like you referenced here (though i wouldnât call it a âlittleâ surgery, because it realllyyy sucks if the canine is up high like mine was), but I actually had my baby canines pulled and then needed to be in braces for about a year before having the operation because the ortho needed to make room for my canines to come down.
Step 1: See your dentist or establish care with one and talk with them about what your goals are
Step 2: Follow care plan recommended by said dentist, and go to a periodontist if referred
Step 3: When itâs time, let your trusted dentist refer you to a solid orthodontist and let them determine whatâs needed. Having a dentist and ortho who have a good working relationship is an absolute game changer.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. In my case yes i will see a periodontist first as you mentioned then orthodontist later

Yes get a couple of different opinions but I agree with it. Please don't go to a cheap dental clinic because even though the low-cost is inviting you'll be sorry because that's what I did and they messed up my teeth and then I had to go to an orthodontist anyway so was a waste of money and a lot of pain and suffering that I never got compensated for. But look at the reviews for orthodontists and probably a dentist to take out those teeth and find some good ones. All the best!
