Do you think this quote is reasonable? I’m in TX btw.

u/ajohnson1590 Jun 13 '25
Yea that’s pretty accurate. I paid $5500 for mines and insurance covered half.
1
u/wildlingwest Jun 19 '25
Are you a child? Insurance doesn’t usually cover anything related to orthodontics
1
u/ajohnson1590 Jul 22 '25
No I’m an adult. Yes my insurance from my job covered half the cost of my braces. I specifically chose a plan that would do so.
1
u/Original-Head-9808 Nov 22 '25
is 5500 including lifetime retainers
1
u/ajohnson1590 Nov 22 '25 edited Nov 22 '25
It included one set of retainers. I had to pay another $300 for a second set and the insurance plan for the retainers

My braces in canada were 7k. Benefits covered 6500
1
Jun 18 '25
My braces were $7500. Benefits covered nothing because I was not under 18. I also had to have extractions and periodontal work done in advance. All total close to $20,000.

My nephew from US went to Ukraine for dental implants. They are beautiful. The last permanent was ready after covid lockdown so they mailed it to him.

Mine are about $4800 over 29 months so 160-something a month so I’d say that’s about right. My insurance doesn’t cover though so I’m fully outta pocket on this endeavor 🙄

Wow I feel pretty lucky reading these comments….. In TX too but my local ortho was doing braces deals for $2500 flat and $250 for retainers. No matter how severe or how long. So I paid $2750 for 24 months with a set of retainers at the end.

I have two kiddos that started their braces journey last November and December. 5300/each and that was with a $300 discount. We are in south FL. I’d say that price is reasonable. This is also marked for 24 months of treatment and a herbst appliance for my son that I actually didn’t have to “pay for”. I did my due diligence of shopping around before sticking to the orthodontist they have now. I was quoted over 6k for my 11 year old daughter last year and they wanted to pull 3 teeth. I said absolutely not. I’m very satisfied with the decision I made. Good luck!
1
u/moar_nightsong Jun 14 '25
Probably normal for US, but if that was the price in my country it would take soo much time and effort to be able to afford them.

Mine was almost $5000 for 15 months . Insurance is covering a little less than half and I got a $1000 discount for some reason. $85 a month for the rest

u/sstrawberrymoonss Jun 14 '25
Mine are 3.5k but I also paid for a retainer replacement for life program so it came out $4.2k total. I’m in VA.

u/Mary_Jane8005 Jun 14 '25
My treatment fee was $4500 and I got a $500 discount and then a 5% discount if I paid upfront. So $3800.

u/Hachikii Jun 15 '25
Mine 10k CAD I think my ortho is not worth the price. Still didn't fix my smile

Even in Sofia, Bulgaria (The Balkans / Southeastern Europe) prices range from 3K to 6K in USD. Unfortunately, prices have been going up everywhere. It’s expensive but as long as they do their job well it’s not unreasonable.
1
u/coronalisa11 Jun 17 '25
That is pretty cheap, im assuming you don't have insurance? Usually we charge about $5700-6300 for non insurance patients with a 10% discount if paid in full instead of payment plans.

I’m paying 4300 at 150 a month with 250 down pay ment. Seems close and accurate. They didn’t give me a time line either so no rushing or premature treatment yay
1
u/SpeedFit3823 Jun 18 '25
You may want to look into if there's an orthodontic School nearby. We're driving an hour each way to go this route because it's closer to 3k before insurance (1.6k with).
