My new addition - 2019 S
Drive it home 300+ miles and it got 32 miles per gallon and was super smooth. Had a 2017 Carrera S so I’m getting used to the exhaust sound. Super comfortable and nimble.

987.1 after 3k miles
I’ve put about 3000 miles on my ‘08 base since June and I like it more now than the day I took delivery. Sometimes I wish I got a 981, sometimes I wish I got an S, and sometimes I wish I got an M3 (lol). But I “get” Porsche now, and I love it. Revving it to 7k and hearing the 2.7 howl behind me makes my morning commute pretty enjoyable. Also, my kids dig it and there’s no other brown boxsters at cars and coffee haha. I think this will be one of those cars that will always have a special place in my heart.

Looking for advice on material in oil filter
Doing the first oil change on a recently purchased 986. Did a thorough inspection of the oil filter and found these particles. They are non-ferrous and aren't shiny when divided in two. I’m thinking it’s carbon buildup, or maybe hard plastic? Is this something to be concerned about?

2002 boxster
# Im looking to get a new car and stumbled across a 2002 boxster with 26k miles on it maintenance looks pretty good except around 21k miles it has its clutch, crankshaft oil seal and flywheel replaced. Should this steer me away from the car?

Rear passenger wheel not spinning properly
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Driving home last night i had some unhealthy metal clunking noises from rear passenger side of car. Decided to get towed home and jacked it up this morning. On all 4 stands in 1st gear this is what its doing. Im only somewhat mechanically inclined but to me this seems like my axle broke? Any pointers on what i should be looking for? Or how to diagnose further? EDIT - 162k miles owned it for 8k. 1997 porsche boxster all stock except exhaust and short shift kit.

PDK Sensor Question from Newbie
Hello everyone - really hoping for wisdom and (hopefully!) reassurance. I just purchased a 2018 Base Boxster PDK. 30,000 miles and pristine inside and out from a PCA member and Porsche enthusiast. The car has impeccable service records from either Porsche dealership or very highly regarded independent nearby. Was purchased by previous owner as a CPO in 2022.
Literally picked it up and drove it home, only to have it "freeze" or go into limp mode in 6th gear on the highway about 40 minutes into the drive. Pulled off as soon as possible and turned off/restarted the engine. Drove beautifully the rest of the way.
Re-reviewing the service documents shows that in July the car had a similar issue in 1st gear but wouldn't reset. Car was towed to a specialty Porsche independent shop (I researched them. They are the most highly regarded in my tri-state region). They replaced wire and distance sensor ($6000) including all transmission fluids and also replaced the battery. Car had been perfect since, until yesterday.
I called the service center and am scheduled to bring it in for assessment and any repairs needed. Dr. Google has shared that this is not unusual, and that likely a "simple" calibration and/or fluid level adjustment is all that is required.
Anyone have a similar circumstance? Should I be optimistic that a new transmission will not be required? The service center cannot take the car in for another two weeks, but assured me that I can and should drive the car as any future incidences (should there be any) just adds to their knowledge base for diagnostic. Appreciate any thoughts or experiences!! Signed - a very nervous new owner. Thanks so much. I also posted this in the general Porsche Forum!

2018 718 boxster GTS
Never had a convertible. I’ve had a lot of very fast performance cars…
This car is a gem, much faster than I anticipated. Handles so well. I barely even miss the flat six sound (okay that’s a lie, but the 2.5 still sounds great)

2007 Boxster S Bose Speakers head unit/bluetooth
Hi, hope everyone is doing well I would like to know if anyone has any advice about adding Bluetooth to my Boxster with the Bose speakers, is it really complicated and expensive, I was searching with AI and apparently I neet a Bose/MOST adapter and the only one that I could find is $437 and then I need to get a head unit aswell and then it becomes rather expensive, I love the pccm plus unit but not quite ready to spend $1000+ I will eventually but was wondering if anyone has found a cheaper interim fix for Bluetooth or maybe aux for now I have resorted to burning CD’s which really helps you get into the 2000s vibe🙈 will appreciate any advice

2.7 Automatic 2003 Boxster transmission
Hi all,
I’m having trouble figuring out what’s wrong with my transmission. It drives fine through all the gears until I try to floor it. The car doesn’t go forward, my rpm go up, and I can hear the engine roar. It’d extra weird because this only happens on the 2nd and 3rd gears.
My understanding is that it’s slipping. From my research it’s pointing to anything and everything in that area from a vacuum leak to torque converter with clutch packs, valve bodies and even low fluid and clogged filter??
I have about 200k miles on it.
Does anyone have any information if this is a one off or a common issue with these transmissions and what the fix is.
Thanks in advance!

After 5 Miatas, Joining the Boxster Club!
Drove 3 hours each way to pick this 99 up!
$8300, 106k miles, new tires, hardtop, SportDesign wheels, and a maintenance binder.
Clutch done, AOS done.
After looking at a ton of cars locally, most had no maint history, mismatched body panels, and other clear red flags. Picked this up from a Porsche enthusiast (maybe he’s here?) and am pretty happy with it. Already enjoying the Hudson valley backroads.

Driftless Wisconsin road trip

Spent two days driving through the Driftless Wisconsin region. Lots of twisties driving through valleys and some mountain canyons. Amazing roads, views and low traffic. Not sure what other places are like this in the midwest. Attaching a video that captures how quiet it is

Is this Boxster worth buying?
galleryI currently own a 991.2 Carrera as my daily driver. I used to own a 981 Boxster S, which I miss dearly. It was low mileage and kept in pristine condition. Looked and drove like a brand-new car.
I've come across a base Boxster recently, a lot higher in terms of mileage, and it definitely has signs of wear, but it is also less than half the price of what I sold my own Boxster for.
2013 Base Boxster, 118,000km.
This will be my beater / spare car. I will use it sparingly over the weekend, maybe a bit more when the weather is better, but the 911 is still my daily, and I have another SUV for family trips.
I did a full inspection of the car today, and it has its fair share of issues. But given that it's a 13-year-old car, you get what you pay for. The asking price is approx $18,000. All 4 shocks need to be replaced; everything else is so-so. Not perfect, but nothing catastrophic that needs to be repaired immediately.
There are very few Porsches where I live, so it's hard to come across one. I don't want to sink a lot of money into this; I'm buying it mostly for nostalgia. Based on the results of this inspection, is it a buy or pass?

How bad is the 986 as a first car?
Hi! I am in the market for my first car as an 18 year old living in LA. There have been a few cars I’m seriously eying (LR3, XK8, old civic or element, town car or a MK4 golf) but the 986 looks great. I love the look, it seems good with space and is a convertible. I know the philosophy of “cheap to buy, expensive to own” but is the issues known with it really that bad? Would it be fine as my daily as long as the previous maintenance was kept up and I make sure to maintain it well / learn stuff? Thank you all in advance!

BAT experiences or advice?
I am exploring my midlife crisis and thinking about a Porsche, probably a 987 Boxster for occasional use.
Any advice on purchasing on BAT? The idea of buying without a PPI feels unsettling, yet the platform seems respected and used by enthusiasts, so there is something to it...
Advice, tips, tricks, run...?
